It's official I am OLD

I had my eyes checked today instead of waiting until Feb. when the year was up. I get them checked yearly. My vision had been bothering me for a few months. My doctor said it is time to have my cataracts removed and scheduled the removals for Nov. 15 and 22. I know the removal is a piece of cake because most of my OLD friends have had theirs removed.

Yep - me, too! I had my cataracts removed 3 years ago - see perfectly now, after wearing glasses since 4th grade.

I guess this relates to being a wacko composter, but after reading about the benefits of urine added to compost, I've been occasionally adding my watered down urine to the compost bin. They say it's pure nitrogen and a great activator for the compost. The people I work with are refusing to eat anything out of my garden, lol! More for me I guess. I like that idea seraki, steal the neighbors garbage for compost! lol.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to get in and get my hands dirty! The summer kitchen is in pretty primitive condition...it's basically the frame structure (which is in good condition)...there is a staircase inside which goes up at an enormously, dangerously steep angle to the second floor (we're thinking maybe the servants had to live up there?) We peeked under the staircase and it was wallpapered with newspaper...from 1915! I hope that's just the first of many interesting surprises we find :) I took some pics inside summer kitchen...I will post them as soon as I get them off my camera. Life is chaotic right now with buying the new house, selling our current one..and also last week I found out my mom has a brain tumor :( I'm so glad that I have the endless possibilities of this new (to us!) old house to occupy my mind :)

I think what bothers me is that they don't really get that this was handed to them more or less, like their pre-existing notoriety is what made Kendall Jenner "the highest paid model", and gave Kylie Jenner the ability to make a billion in the cosmetics industry. It's not like Kendall started as a nobody, or Kylie sat in a lab like Estee Lauder and developed a product, she was already famous and That's why they get handed cosmetics lines and clothing labels and all these other things which are really run by other people... and then Kim goes on a Vanity Fair interview, with her views on what's wrong with the post Covid economy: “Get your f*cking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. Show up and do the work.” And Kendall doesn't know how to slice a cucumber.

Guess then I am not considered OLD, as I'm 72, and still wearing reading glasses, non-prescription.

Ditto Glenda for me. My eyes actually got better over the years. I went from being myopic to having 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left eye. Only wear over-the-counter reading glasses now. My sons GF is 45 and has cataracts. I guess she's OLD and I'm NOT. LOL

I am almost ready, am now in the frustration stage. I am a high risk, so not in a hurry.

I had cataracts done a coouple of years ago - piece of cake!

(Which I can see better now - with reading glasses).

No cataracts here, but I find I have to hold my books further away than I used to. I had laser surgery a few years ago to correct near sightedness and they purposely under corrected one eye so I wouldn't need reading glasses so soon.

My hubby had two cataract surgeries in his 50's. He's very finicky about his vision. He's been wearing glasses all his life. The eye doctor says he's even a good candidate for Lasix surgery. At 65, when all he looks at are TV and the newspaper. He shouldn't bother.

You're not old, your eyes have just aged faster.....When our patients complained they had to hold the book or paper further away, I'd tell them, their arms must have shrunk.....

I don't think age really has too much to do with catarcts, sadly, even some babies are born with them....
