Measles and chicken pox. Guess I wasn't vaccinated, but it seemed like I got vaccinated a lot, from what I remember.

I was never sick with anything other than regular stuff like the flu. I've never had any surgery or anything major in my life(48)...knock on wood! HAHAHA!

If my mom were still living she would say ALL OF THEM! But I really didn't...I never had mumps. I still have my tonsils.

I had encephalitis as an infant, chicken pox when I was six on Christmas. That's all I remember.

I had mumps, measles and chicken pox. I only remember having the mumps though. I probably had whooping cough but I'm not really sure. I'd have to check my baby book. My mom used to say I had a really bad case of chicken pox, the worse out of us 4 kids.

I didn't get measles until I had graduated from nurses training and got exposed in the pediatric unit.

I don't remember what I had as a kid, but caught the measles from my daughter when I was 27. I remember being soooooosick until I broke out in the rash, then started feeling better fairly fast. When I went to the Dr, he said adults get a lot sicker from these 'childhood' illnesses, that's why you should get them when your a kid. No Kidding!!

Typhoid Fever, measles, childhood TB, didn't even know about that one. I had such fat cheeks, Mom was never sure if I had mumps when my sisters did.

Measles several times, mumps, chicken pox and scarlet fever. Almost died from scarlet fever. I was 5 and remember the doctor coming in the middle of the night and my mother crying. I don't think they had vaccinations for those things back then. And I was allergic to the sulfa drugs available back then.

Sue, we didn't go to the doctor either. If we got really sick he'd come to the house, but as far as yearly checkups--no way! I wasn't vaccinated for polio or TB until I was an adult. Mother thought the vaccine would give us the disease and she wasn't willing to risk it.

I didn't have any traditional childhood diseases during childhood, but caught what was called three-day measles during my first office job when I was about 19. Don't remember it being particularly difficult to get through. I did have pneumonia when I was about nine, but didn't have to go to the hospital as a "visiting nurse" showed my mother how to give penicillen injections, back at the time it was still called "a Wonder Drug". Compared to other neighborhood kids, I was pretty lucky.

I had German measles when I was a baby and Chicken Pox. That's all I remember. I can remember standing in line through the cafeteria as a child in California, waiting to get vaccinated with that big, awful looking gun-looking thing they used to use.

Chicken pox for sure, and perhaps measles and mumps. Our big fear was polio. In the summers of the early 1950s, parents lived in dread of the disease and kept us from large gatherings.

Mumps, chickenpox, measles (not the bad measles). Got vaccinated a lot. Tonsils and adenoids taken out at 6.

The kids (born in the mid 70's) had chickenpox.

My DH unfortunately got polio the year before he would
have been vaccinated in kindergarten. He has a limp but
can walk. Many didn't make it out of the iron lung, he
was in that for awhile.

I remember having mumps and measles. Don't remember chicken pox but I have a chicken pox scar, so guess I did have it. I remember being vaccinated in order to go to school. I still have my tonsils and adenoids. I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever when I was 13. The 1 local doctor came to the house and diagnosed it and had 2-3 doctors "from the city" to come and visit so they could see what RMSF looked like. In bed for 6 weeks; lost most of my hair.

My first visit to a doctor's office was when I was 18 and applied for a Civil Service job. I was terribly embarrassed!

I don't ever remember being sick much. I know I had many certificates for perfect school attendance. The only childhood illness I really remember was Ewings Sarcoma - guess that more than made up for missing out on all the rest.

I had them all, whooping cough, measles, mumps and chicken pox. None of us 5 kids were vaccinated for any of those. I knew a boy that had polio. He had 6 siblings, but was the only one that had it.

He had a terrible limp.

Fortunately, polio passed me by. A classmate wore a leg brace for life due to polio.

A lot of kids (including me) had their tonsils removed. I don't think that's as readily done now. I wonder if a lot of kids suffered with respiratory ailments because so many adults in their lives smoked! The surgery didn't seem to make any difference in the number of times I got sick. Today kids wouldn't feel that awful pain coming out of anesthesia, and nobody suffers nausea from having been given ether.

I had extreme cases of chicken pox (couldn't walk) and mumps (all three sets of glands involved). I 'probably' had measles -- inconclusive rash. I have a nickel-size pox scar on the side of one knee and some small scars in my eyebrows.

Re: TB. My late mother had encapsulated TB in one lung. Her mother nursed her own mother, sister and brother as they were dying of TB when my mother was a very small child. She believed her uncle didn't like her. Her memory of him was that if she came into his room he would holler at her to get out. She also lived through the 'Spanish Flu' epidemic.

The health horrors we have been spared!

I forgot to mention that when I was about 9, both my grandfather, who lived with us, and my brother, who was then about 5, were diagnosed with TB. Both were sent to TB sanitariums that existed in Michigan at the time. My brother stayed for almost two years; my GF for almost three.The rest of us thankfully dodged that bullet.

Mumps, german measles, whooping cough, and chicken pox. The measles and whooping cough were rough cases; The measles affect my eyes for 3 months during the summer. I had to wear dark glasses until mid-September after the sun took a lower postion. I was least affected by chicken pox. I wasn't sure I had it, but all the symptoms were there, but light. I had only one pox of any size.

The standard test for Mumps (among us kids) was to take a bite of a pickle. If your jaw locked, you had mumps. My jaw muscles cramped solid when I bit into a pickle.

I had the usual... chicken pox, measles, the usual. All our boys had chicken pox (was before there was a vaccine for this). Our youngest son, when just a week before his 3rd birthday, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. What a blow to our family, after 3 healthy boys. Am happy to say, that after 4 1/2 years of chemo he is a healty, happy 16 yr. old now!

I never had measles, mumps, or chicken pox, and I still have my tonsils. I was too busy being ill with serious things...

Ditto on most from my generation -- mumps, measles and chicken pox. Gave the mumps to my mom for her 32nd birthday.

chicken pox..but what really scared my mother was measles, and the flu at the same time..was at my grandma's, and remember they made a tent of sheets...my dentist growing up, said it affected my teeth..all my molars needed fillings...then osteomylitis (bone infection) that was aweful couldn't walk all summer...and ended up with my dad's dr, since the peds dr told my mother i was faking? it's a wonder i respond to anti-bios, i had to take them for 2 months...

i was an only child and made sure MY 4 kids were seen regularly...different times, differnt parenting skills...sound a wee bit bitter? yes...

Mumps and Scarlet Fever. We all had some Asian Flu (or some kind of flu) in 68 or 69. I also used to have really bad night fevers.
My kids and I got vaccinated for chicken pox together.

I had regular measels, German measels, chicken pox and mumps. I am glad they had polio vaccine by that time - a friend's big brother had a paralyzed arm because of it, and another kid I knew had leg braces.

I remember having the mumps, german measles and chickenpox. I have a picture of my brother and I when we both had chickenpox. My father caught the mumps from me when he was in his 40's. He was so sick! I had my tonsils out when I was 6. I remember going to the hospital to have them taken out. That's the only time I've ever been in the hospital for anything!

Mumps, measles, German measles...all three two times each...and chickenpox just once. And...I'd been vaccinated for all of them. Just goes to show you that vaccinations don't always work. Nor, apparently, does exposure. As an adult I've had shingles so the herpes virus still exists for activation in my body. sigh

After years of suffering with every cough/cold that came down the pike...I finally had no choice but to have my tonsils removed. I was 20 when they were removed and it was not an easy surgery.

Both of my parents...and all their friends...were heavy smokers and never considered curbing their habit around us children. Today, I'm sure that contributed to some of my health problems.

Polio was very active in the area of Massachusetts that I grew up in but thanks to my father's contacts...we were all vaccinated very early on and were spared. A few of my schoolmates weren't so lucky...and it left them scarred for life...not just physically, but mentally.

Measels. German Measels, mumps, tonsilitis, chicken pox & cow pox

My question is, if anyone happens to contact any of the above illnesses today the county board of health will require you to stay home and they will post a
"Quarantine" sign on your front door. All of these are typical childhood ilnesses which generally do not produce any serious long lasting effects, yet if one contacts HIV or full blown AIDS they remain free to move within our society and it is against the law to publicly disclose that information, WHY?

I had mumps on one side, measels and chicken pox. I am sure I got all the vaccinations when I was a child. I still have the scar from one vaccination on my arm.

Tonsils out at age 5 (unlimited popcicles...oh goody, yea...yum, ouch ouch ouch LOL).

Mumps (left side) at age 6 which I remember quite clearly because I was at the boxing ring watching my father (a Golden Gloves fighter) in a bout when I bit into a hotdog and grabbed my cheek. Mom took me to the ring doctor after the fight (he was stitching up dad's eye) and was diagnosed with mumps.

Measles in 4th grade, the day of a much anticipated field trip to Mission San Jose.

Chicken Pox at age 18. Woke up for my first day of work at Hewlett-Packard to a serious case of chicken pox. They were so bad that I suffered from nerve damage in my right ear. Missed my first two weeks of work with my new employer.
