Miracle in the making....

I think the rescuing of the miners is really a miracle...To see each one come to the surface is unbelievable...It's just very hard for me to imagine being so far under ground and for so long....Bless everyone of them....

I believe those KT prayers helped along with many others. It is great when people thru out the world work and pray together.

I've been spell-bound by the rescues since last night.

The entire process, from Day 1, has been amazing.

I've been crying, and laughing, and praying, and singing. I would love to hug each and every miner, and rescuer, and cook them a big meal.

I'm sort of along the lines of RB. I've been concerned that native plants which live in flood hummocks etc. will have terrible troubles if this drought continues into spring. So many of these rare plants are indigenous only to Georgia. I have thought about re-doing much of what I did last spring. The garden needs to be wider in many areas, and then I want more privacy evergreens focusing on native plants. Perhaps native holly. Drought AND flood resistance is on my mind, as is privacy screening, and safety screening (thorns!) - plus the ability of a plant to take part-sun to full sun because my neighbor and I need to continue trimming overstory trees for health and for safety. I am planning on planting many more edible plants, natives and trees/shrubs for fall color. Plants like blueberries and sumacs (which I don't know much about Southeastern Sumac), serviceberry etc. I want persimmon and pomegranite, maybe wolfberry as well. Probably another fig or two (different types). I have 6 rain barrels, and will get a 7th shortly. Hopefully I can then get a friend to help me build a raised platform to put 6-10 more along the side of the house and install a pump system for them (both for rainwater and also for air conditioning condensation). What I won't plant are the elephant ears under my awning. We LOVE them all summer, but this year they did horribly (no water) and I need some short, interesting evergreen plants that take low water and no tap root (not easy to find in a low water plant). Like RB, I haven't done too much this year. Hopefully we'll have loads of nice GENTLE rains (I shudder to think of what torrential rains would do to trees in the spring) in the new year and be off to a good start. I'd like it to start now, but it seems the rains have been pushed off another few days.. GGG

Thank you all so much for your messages. In case any of you hear the song "I'm so excited" from the Pointer Sisters anytime soon, that's been my theme song this week! I figure I have a long wait (it seems to me) until my doctor's appointment but God is teaching me to be patient through all of this, it's a lot of waiting. So right now, I am embracing the excitement and I'm going to try not to worry until I have a real reason to! I am so convinced that the prayers everyone said for me and my positive attitude (even when it was hard to not get negative and worried) totally contributed to my test results coming back in my favor. I also eliminated a lot of stress in my life and it's changed my life tremendously. I'll surely never be the same after this experience and I am a little excited about that (in a weird kind of way, of course). This surely has made me a better person, I'd never thought I'd say that about a cancer battle. :)

We had adopted Pearl who we thought was the best cat in the entire world. Over time I realized she prefers to be the only cat and let me know by spraying the carpet in three rooms. Each of the rooms had a history that Pearl insisted on masking. The den area carpet was where our dog had laid for her final moment . I dragged the area carpet outside, saturated it with water, and then applied a mixture of dawn, vinegar, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in stages. The second bedroom had housed my daughter's cats for a weekend so Pearl let me know she was Queen of this room. The last carpeted room had a puppy accident and Pearl insisted that she reigned this territory . My gut thinks that sometime during installation there was a accident and your cat is now masking the odor. I found that washing the area in stages with the above routine rid the carpet of the issue. I applied a mixture of dawn , water using a carpet vacuum to remove the water. I then let it dry . I added white vinegar to the carpet and again soaked up the moisture. The last is sprinkling baking soda all over a larger area then needed and pouring the hydrogen peroxide . I then squeegeed as much moisture out. Hydrogen peroxide has never stained my silk . wool or nylon rugs but it did turn the beige polyester carpet a funky yellow. There is a history in your den carpet that she does not like at all!!!!

Again, than you all for your sympathetic words. Today has been a more peaceful, comforting day. My Dad's obit came out in the local paper, one SM and I composed relatively quickly, to get it in on time, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Then another stream of phonecalls, flowers and food from those who found out about his passing thru the obit. My Dad was a one-of-a-kind character liked, loved and admired by even more people than I already knew. And he loved, cared for and protected me even more than I knew. This morning was the reading of his will, and my Dad did the right thing. The thing he'd always talked about for so many years, what he wanted to do all along, which is to be fair and to show us through his last wishes that he loved us equally. Even though it was not what SM wanted, and even though she had to eat some crow, even she took it with a decent amount of grace because it was just that fair and even-handed. I will be leaving in a couple days, after his ashes arrive and after visiting and reminiscing with a few more family friends. In the meantime, I'm still doing a lot of that half-dazed wandering around thing, giving extra cuddles to his cats, talking on the phone, napping here & there. Just soaking up what I can of the visual impressions of his presence here and the memories in this house which has been a home-away-from home for so many years but which will never be the same once I leave.

I say AMEN to that. When I saw that capsule entering that chamber for the first time last night, I was in Awe. God Bless these miners, their families and the rescuers, It is truly History in the making.

They never really lost faith. There is on of the Miners who kept a Diary of the Events. I hope they write a book and make some money.

It is so amazing when they get out of that capsule! I then say another prayer to get everyone out of there safely! If something would happen to the last few, the others would never get over it! 'Survivors guilt'! (I hate to even put those thoughts out there!)

It has just been so awesome! I have just been glued to the tv as much as possible, and CNN has done a good job. Isn't it incredible to see the tube disappear into the ceiling? What a beautiful job they have done to rescue these men. I hope the media attention, the lavish gifts, money, etc. don't ruin any of their lives.

I was just thinking...how would you like to be the very last person left in the mine to be brought up? Probably would be one of the helpers who went down, not a miner. I'd want to be sure they didn't forget me and all go home!! LOL!

I've been watching live coverage of the rescue tonight at work. I work in a university library, and now that there are only two miners left I thought I'd give an update to a couple of students who are in the library at the moment. Trouble is, they never heard of the miners, or the rescue.
