Plus don't do this when calling your grandchild at school dismissal time!

Didn't look at my watch and called my grandson.

He couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear him!

What a bunch of loudies!

I forgot about those days :o)

I used to work at a school. When our offices were close to the school, it got very noisy at dismissal time. I kind of missed it when they moved the admin offices about a mile away. No longer felt like I was working for a school.

It's even worse once my boy gets on the bus. Ugh! I just text him until a half hour later. If I can't call him before dismal, but I can't wait (NEED to tell him something), I text. It may or may not get through since that'd require him hearing his phone ding at him.

Doesn't management care about the noise issues going on? We have been incredibly luck I suppose. We had to take a downstairs apt because our dog is 10+ and is sick. The steps here are in the front door and there are 15 of them, no way she could do those. Plus on the bottom floor, there is a great front porch and huge patio so she can just walk out either door. We have never heard the people upstairs, never. I mean once in a while you have a "sense" someone is up there by a little scooting noise or something, but that is it. I was so worried living downstairs because my rule has always been upstairs or now way, but with an older dog there was no way. I will really appreciate my neighbors extra special after reading these posts. Do you all not have statements in the leases that state if you must respect the enjoyment of others at all times you must leave without notice? We had to sign two addendums stating that we understood that we would be asked to leave without notice if we disturbed anyone at any time. Everyone signs this and everyone here knows this is a living community, not a party place. I wonder if these strict rules are not common??? Best wishes to all you fighting this noise! We are first time home buyers of a condo conversion in San Diego. We moved in at the end of November 2006. In April we got new upstairs neighbors. Ever since it has been hell. They are very nice people, but it sounds like they are constantly moving things and never sit still. The wife is a heavy stepper and so are their friends. We have asked them 3 times to be aware of the people below them. They apologize, it stops for a few days then starts all over again. I have recently written them a letter stating the noise continues and we need to come up with a solution. I even included a log of when we hear them. we literally hear them every minute they are home till they go to bed. They then came back to us and said that they can only tip-toe for so long and it is what it is and maybe the complex needs better insulation. I then explained to them that we only hear one person walking around not two. So clearly it is the heavy footed person and guests we hear. When the husband is home alone we don't hear anything. When my boyfriend went upstairs to talk to them again, I could barely hear him and he is 200lbs and flat footed. And because it is about every minute continuing to log it will be...... well... Not to mention what recourse do we have? Any legal help? We can't call the police on walking or constantly moving furniture. Our HOA says that anything with homeowners is between homeowners unless it is on the HOA property.. We have done it the nice way (SEVERAL TIMES), now our only option is to fight fire with fire.. I want to make noise so when they mention it to us we can make an agreement. Or say "we are simply trying to MASK the noise you are making"... Hmmm this sux! I hate to have to feel and be like this.

Beans....never heard this before

I ask this question to my Pressure Cooker Yahoo Group and one answer is that the sound is the beans splitting while soaking. No bubbles appeared in my soaking beans, but the popping sounds got a little louder after soaking 4-6 hours. Garbanzo beans may be more prone to fermentation if they soak too long and one person said she soaked her G. beans in the fridge. Mine soaked for 8 hours before I cooked them. I was planning to cook them under pressure, but my cooker manual did not have them listed and said specifically not to cook any beans other than the ones listed in the manual. So, I cooked them in the pressure cooker pot with the lid partly cocked open. After 30 minutes they were done. I was surprised that they tasted really good to me! I usually use G. beans to make hummus, but found a recipe for falafel I wanted to try. The beans I cooked tasted much better than those out of a can. Guess I can never go back now! Glassquilt - I was just thinking about your upcoming surgery and then saw your post here. I know it's going to go just fine, and that you'll have a smooth and speedy recovery. To get you through the rough spots, here's some soup that I've discovered recently. It's definately a notch above the canned stuff, and perfectly compatible with a straw. Just didn't realize the time when I called him.

He did call me back once he got away from everyone.

And I forgot how noisey end of school is :o)

Have you ever ridden on a school bus with a load of first graders? The racket is deafening! Also, lunchtime is pretty loud too.

I'm glad I can text. I may never get him any other way. I happily adjusted to him. I text no one but him; quite a lot! The best part is, I get to read and re-read iwhat he says as many times as I want until he is close, then I can hear what he says. It's not a bad deal at all. Try it, you may like the additional connection with him.

Glenda, your title made me remember a moment last night. I was here alone with my daughter's dog, standing in the kitchen making some tea when there was suddenly a very LOUD, rumbling noise. I was positive it was an earthquake (I live in CA,) and the dog and I were shocked into silence for a moment. Then the dog started barking loudly and as I looked to the hanging light and saw it was still, I realized the sound was cats (or something?) running across my roof. What an adrenaline rush!

Yes, schools are noisy places! But it's usually a happy noise, at least. ;)
