Memory Lane--bought grandson Weebles

DD and I shopped at the toy department of Target yesterday. Today she flew with her DH to Key West for a friend's wedding, and before she left we bought new toys for the boys. The 3 3/4 year old got two new 10 inch dinosaurs, but we bought a set of 2 Weebles for the 1 year old grandson. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. These are much larger Weebles than the ones I remember 35 years ago, but they do wobble nicely!

My oldest son is 35 and I can remember getting him some Weebles when he was young too !
Its fun to shop for our Grandkids, do you miss them already ?

No, I don't miss them as they are here till Thursday morning. My back is going to be REALLY aching after all the picking up and rocking, etc. They are almost 1 year old and 3 3/4 years old.

When my DS was a youngster, I bought multi dinosaur kits. I have the memories of our putting them together, hope he does.

I had a few weebles but mainly the Little People toys. I loved to put them on my fingers and "animate" them. Now the Little People are NOTHING like the ones I had in the 70's. I even had Square People and a Square People Holiday Inn (and IT had a square toilet with a square lid, lol). My mom still has all of those toys. I keep telling her to give them away since my nieces are too old and there will be no more grandkids.

My kids (now 30-40 yrs. old) had Weebles. So, I bought them for the oldest Grandchild (now going on 13) & his younger siblings. When DH got unemployed yrs. ago, the Father of the GKs told us "You're like Weebles. You wobble, but you don't fall down" And we wobbled, but we didn't fall down then or through the subsequent unemployments. Now, we have a GK coming in April. She/He will have Weebles, thanks to me. :-) Pat

My sister had all the little people too. Since she's not having kids, I have it all for my granddaughter, although, due to their size, she won't be playing with them till she's quite a bit older; they are such a choking hazard. What were Fischer Price people thinking back in the day?

Juellie, sounds like you have the ones I had. When I worked in Childcare, they had the giant ones- the one-year-olds could barely pick them up they were so round and heavy!

I have one weeble, we found it when we were moving in '06. It's one of the small ones, all my "kids" are in their 30's. BTW, it's a Mickey Mouse weeble.

One of the most treasured things my baby brother (age 36) owns is one of his original Weebles. His 3 yr.old nor his 1 yr.old are allowed to play with it, it holds too many precious memories.
