Update on To call or Not to call

I called and spoke with Tiffany's mom after work yesterday. I told her that I wasn't sure what all Tiffany had said, but I wanted to call her to set the record straight on what I was told was going on, and to let her know that I'm not a parent that lets kids run around at all hours of the night, and that Alysssa and I were both in belief that Tiffany had gone home with her sick. I told her that had I known that Tiffany "had gotten sick" I would have brought her home myself. And I told her that I told Alyssa from now on I need to be told if anyone is leaving early so that I know and see who they are leaving with. She told thank you for calling, and that she didn't blame me at all, and apologized for Tiffany lying to Alyssa and me. She also told me that she has talked to the mother of the girl that picked up Tiffany. She also asked me about whether Tiff and Alyssa had actually babysat earlier that night, which they did, and I assured her that I had seen them picked up and brought home by friend's of ours who they babysat for.

As for Alyssa knowing what she was going on, she did not. She was angry at Tiffany for lying to her when she found out. I'm not suspicious of her actions at all. She's my kid and I trust her and that's my call.

As for how Tiffany was caught. When she came home, she was dropped off in a pickup truck. Tiffany's mom said "That's not Alyssa's mom's car" and Tiffany said it was Alyssa's brother's. Her mom said I'll call Alyssa's mom and ask and Tiffany knew she was busted and came clean.

My reason for posting was because I wasn't sure if it wold do more harm than good to call, and wondered what other parents here at the KT would do in the situation. I thank you all for your views and advice and considered everything said before I called her.

I'm glad it all turned out for the good. It's nice that her Mom was so understanding. I think you did the right thing.

Good for you! You are a great Mom and Alyssa knows it too or she wouldn't be so honest! I'm glad you touched base with the other Mom though! Clears the air IMO.

It seems ok. The one leaf is getting bigger and there's another little one growing but the stem is still itty bitty. I'll definitely be putting the nub under lights and on a seed mat this winter. I just hope it doesn't get lost though that might be a good thing. lol Karyn

I found this thread while looking for information on Blue Gramma. I planted about half an acre in Blue Gramma "Hachita" late last fall and did not get any germination from that planting, not even this spring when it started to warm up, so not being one to give up I went through the preparation ritual and replanted the area again with the same type seed the last week of April. It took about three weeks before I started seeing results. It was great watching the sprouts and then blades beginning to grow. However, the grass in taking so long to sprout gave the weeds a good head start. I did not dare enter the area for a while for fear of uprooting the grass so I just had to let the weeds go. Beginning the second week of June I was out pulling weeds by hand and continued to do so for several more weeks. I was amazed quite often how close to a clump of grass I could pull a weed and the grass roots were deep enough that few were removed. Because of the still poor germination of the BG I decided to let it go to seed without mowing and let it reseed/overseed itself. I think it is a very pretty grass especially as a full grown plant with seed head. My problem now is that I have decided that BG by itself may not be the best lawn choice as it seems to not withstand traffic well. Is it possible that overseeding with some other grass might be appropriate and if so what would be recommended? I see that several other posters seem to like the Wheatgrass, especially crested and streambank, would they work and what would the blend of Blue Gramma and wheatgrass look like?

You did the right thing. If I was Tiff's mom, I'd want to know. You just have to stay one step ahead of the kids. They don't realize you were once a kid too.

I think it's good you called. Sounds like it turned out just fine.

And I dont think it's anyones business to question your daughter's actions (unless you ask) if you've already been clear that you trust her story. She sounds like a good girl. But regardless, your right...it is your call.

I have been in Tiffany's mom's shoes. My daughter pulled stunts like that until she was no longer allowed to spend the night away from home. I wish I had someone call me- sure would have made me feel better.

Glad you called, and it sounds like all worked out well. So, the girl she went off with drives a pick up truck? Guess that's not really your problem. Poor Tiff's mom...

It's great that you called and that you were both so reasonable and level-headed, Mickey. AND it makes both girls know that both mom's are on the job and not taking any baloney. I think that's important for kids to know- that they're parents aren't gullible nit-wits. :)

And ditto to what Steph said. Only YOU know your daughter, so your judgement is the right one.

It's great for the kids to know you moms stand united!! Bet Tiffany won't be trying that trick again soon--if she ever gets out of the house again. Wonder where she really was. Since she obviously lied to both your daughter and her mother, sounds like she has something to hide.

Glad your call went well. Bet you feel a lot better now!!
