Treating strangers on the road with considerationn

Some of our streets have three lanes each way at intersections, the left being signed for left turns, and the other two without signs.

If I'm to be the first in line in the right lane when the light goes yellow, if I don't plan to turn right and there's space in the centre lane, I tend to signal and move to that lane, in order to leave a space in the right lane for someone who wants to turn right on the red to be able to do so, which we are allowed to do as long as it can be done safely.

I would be especially inclined to do that if the car following me had put on his right turn signal, but that rarely happens that far back from an intersection.
