Darn! I was hoping it would work out, but he'll get there next year. On the bright side, this will give him more time to enjoy his freshman year and all that college life has to offer. Hugs to PJR!

I'm sorry he's disappointed. I'm very proud of him for not being just crushed that he didn't make it. It's a sure sign of his good upbringing. Kids do need to learn how to handle disappointment and not always winning.

He can concentrate on his first year, get settled into things, get onto the whole time management thing. Hit the gym and rock them out next year at tryouts.

He's been in the ball game for 14 years, Little League - High School.

Maybe it's a sign that it's a thing of the past as there's more to life than baseball.

Yep, he had a goot attitude when he called me.

Unless it is his dream to become a pro, kids in college sports have to eat ,breath and play 24/7. I think their schoolwork suffers and they also don't have time to mingle with non baseball people.

There is plenty of time to work on his speed....and maybe it will save his elbow for when he is in the pros!

PJR put off his decision for college and then to try out for the baseball team . He has a mind of his own :o)

LATE but it was HIS decision.

Now it's time to move forward and forget baseball.

He's interested in wildlife management, and now it is time to focus on what's more important than baseball. He knows :o)

He'll do well with whatever he decides. and I feel in my heart it will not be baseball.

It's all good. He gave it a shot. He's moving on.

Our DS is 43. A childhood friend only recently quit taking part time jobs that left him time to devote himself to his goal: Rock Star. He has two college degrees -- and a lot of experience as a bartender. He's still making music, but I think he's finally moving on towards A Life.

Your grandson is an intelligent young man and has many other options to choose from. As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens.

they only thing I was hoping for was $$$ a scholarship would have given him so the wouldn't have that horrible loan to pay off that kids now face...

He's very lucky and smart to have a career goal in mind as he is starting college. Speaking from experience as a mom of four grads who didn't!

I'm glad he tried out. If not, he would always wonder whether he should have. On to other things! Wildlife management seems like such a good fit for him!

mmrox, had to lol...I have 4 kids also...3 had majors...the 4th spent so much time in community college (had 63 credits) when he did graduate from mi state, his bachelor reads liberal arts pre-law...they had to sort of make it up, lol..he called it his 7 year plan...and then? ended up at another local college assessing and dispensing grant monies to engineering dept! never had one acct class! now he's back at msu, but working in the agricultural dept...go figure!

I wish though, that more kids would try getting lower division classes thru local community college and save money...we applied for grants, ect and even with 4 in college , we didn't qualify for anything. they had to pay their own way...glad to say they paid off the loans asap....
