We should officially be Nana & Papa!!!!!!!!! Kalie's Dr. told her on Wednesday at her appt, this is the weekend. She started this morning loosing a big plug! She has had Braxton Hicks for the last 3 months so she is used to the contractions...just not the HARD ones yet.

She has started the back labor tho... She has now been admitted and we will be on our way in just a bit. Both the kids are doing well......so far! lol I have cleaned my house top to bottom, baked banana bread and sugar cookies! I am ready to be down there helping for the next couple of weeks! (Dean will be back and forth also. And I don't worry about him cooking...he can do as well if not BETTER than me!)

I will try to check in when I have pics....not sure when, but it will be posted on FB and I am sure someone from here will see it and they will let you know!!! Soooo excited...can you tell!?! LOL

Congratulations! "Labor Day" for sure! When you say "both the kids are doing well", is this their third? Do you know yet if this is a boy or girl or have they waited to find out?

It is a boy...and I say 'kids' as in our daughter and her DH! LOL Not the kids any longer I guess! *S*

Power Lost to Greenhouse for 24 Hours!

Hey Blondboy- I have found with just one layer of solar pool cover over my glass greenhouse, the sunlight is barely cut down at all. I have geraniums blooming inside, no internodal stretch, in fact have a succulant I've owned for 5 years flowering profusely for the very first time. From a base temperature of 50* (from small eclectric heater) the greenhouse warms up to above 85* everyday that we have sun. It would get much warmer but I have an automatic roof vent in the ridgeline (my building is quite tall) Even on cloudy days it will get 60-65* inside. It didn't get that warm on cloudy days last year, without the pool cover and lost its' heat very quickly once the sun started to slide down the western sky. Now that heat is held many hours after dark until the heater finally needs to come on for my setpoint of 50*. I don't know how many mil the pool covers are but they are quite a heavy gauge, fairly stiff to handle. One thing I've also done which I neglected to mention in other posts, is to seal around every window with a removable caulking to seal out drafts. This caulking is available at HD. It's clear and sets up very flexible and strips off very easily in the spring. All my windows on the north side and east/west endwalls can be opened in the spring for ventilation, in addition to doors in both endwalls as well. I've put weatherstripping in the doors and rolled up a piece of burlap to act as a draft dodger on the floor. The only downside of the strippable caulking is that the fumes right after applying it are HORRENDUS! Could get you higher than a kite! :) I caulk everything while the weather is still fairly mild so I can leave the doors open for a couple days to air the place out. Hasn't seemed to hurt any plants.

Subway Tile is what my question was about.. for the wall around the tub and shower. Cabinet color is custom, and I've been struggling with the "right" white for months now, I think I tend to "overthink" everything. That said, thanks everyone.. I have decided to go with white and NOT biscuit. Paint color - not concerned with at this point, it can be changed easy enough, but the tile and cabinets not so much! 2) This seems like it is not a sustainable life, if you cannot even stop and think. Sometimes it might be helpful to reconsider goals and timelines.... tell me about it, I know it's not an ideal life at this moment, but we bought the old house, already sunk in a great deal of money, and there is no turning back at this point. (wish I could) There are things that need to be done, and we have actually looked to hire people, and they are just lazy or crazy. The lazy ones never show up, and the crazy ones want 5 times as much as they should get, so that leaves us stuck doing what has to be done!

Thank you all -I forgot to mention we went to Montreal on our last trip there, and loved it. Thank you for the reminder to visit a great camp! In 2018, we took a wonderful boat trip on Raquette Lake, which is really where the great camps were first conceived of and built. We wanted to tour one but it was closed for renovation, so will definitely do that if open. I've been to Burlington (actually first went there fifty years ago, growing up in NH), and really enjoyed our last trip there. That's a good reminder too. I also love the Lake Champlain Ferry even in the cold! DEFINITELY want to read some more about that Saratoga Railway.

Oh the excitement builds. Soon you will be grandparents. I'm happy for you.

No matter their ages, they will always be your "kids".Our daughter and hubby are in their 50's, but they are still our "kids" to us.

Come to think of it ---- I was right on my estimate of time for the birth! I'll try not to break my arm while patting self on the back! LOL

I hope all goes well and if he is born after midnight -- that is the birthday of one of our grandsons!

A great big exciting Congratulations!

I managed to deliver our surprise and third baby on Mothers' Day. He shared the same birthday with an uncle and the other son was born the day before and also shares his birthday with an uncle. We are soooo busy here for Mothers' Day. No discounts at the hospital!

Any news yet, Sandy!?

I was just sick when I read how prepared you are. I'm gonna be a Mamaw again in about 2-3 weeks and all I've done is pack a "Grandma bag" and take care of my mom everyday. Awww....well, we'll make it and I can't wait to hold our new little boy.

What is his name? Have they named him already?

Just checking in. WOW what a difference in things since I gave birth 26 years ago (Kalie was 24 yrs ago, but she was C-section). Anyway, she has had an epidural and is SLEEPING while going through all the contractions! They are about every 2.5 min! AMAZING! I have a feeling it is going to be a late night/early morning deal tho. No name for sure yet...they want to meet him first! :)
