Thanks, Db! Shoot--why didn't I think of that? Our Hobby Lobby is a bit of a pain to get to, but I use Michaels' and AC Moore 40% off coupons all the time. I don't know what their regular price is, though.....it might not end up to be much of a savings.

BUT this is becoming a moot point because I just discovered the $16 bulb doesn't work. That is, the lamp doesn't work with the bulb in it. I wonder if something's wrong with the lamp. I hope not. I like it, and I've had only one bulb in it.

I get mine at Michaels. I am mot near a Joannes or AC Moore store. Both of my Ott light bulbs are at least five years old and I use these lamps all the time. I just bought one as a spare.

Are you sure you got the right bulb? I know they come in many different sizes and styles and model numbers. I use my lamp every day for hours at a time and I've only had to replace the bulb once in I think eight years. So they do last a good long time. I get mine at Hobby Lobby and I use the 40% off coupon. I try to keep a couple of spares on hand all the time.

Check and make sure you installed it properly, Susan. I remember it was a little tricky on my floor lamp.

Tricky is right! I'm pretty certain it's the right bulb....it matches the old one exactly, and is the one recommended on the OttLite website. And it's the E type--very important, apparently. It made a sound like it had snapped in, but I don't know....it took so much pressure to get it in that I was afraid it was going to break. I'll have my son look at it tomorrow.

I had trouble similar to that and I contacted Ott and I had to cut the cord and send that and the model number to Ott and they replaced the entire lamp. My problem was not the bulb, but the condenser within the lamp. They were real nice. Every Time I had put in a bulb, it just made a funny pop sound. And it was with the bulb that came with the light. Found out even though I bought the lamp new from Hobby Lobby, it was 5 years old. Had been on someone's shelf for way too long. I had used a 40% coupon. My new light is still working after several years.

How did you all know that I have had a really new lamp sitting in my entry way and 3 light bulbs won't work in it. I have just hated to think that I had to throw it away... you know, like, someone is going to come along and discover why it won't work after 3 bulbs just won't work. Thanks for all the info. I have 4 Ott lamps, that I use many times a day, and this one has had me 'stumped'.

By the way, my lamp was still under warnaty, but the company still might help, depends on how long you have had your lamp. Good luck

Joann's will also take michaels coupons.I have 3 ott light for several years,more than 5,and so far have never had to replace a bulb.The floor model gets used for several hours every night,when I cross stitch.

I think office depot and staples also carry them.
