It's true - we are desperate for the sun.......we immediately flock to a public park, get down to our vests and stretch out like basking sharks (in March, if we get a chance). I am old enough to recall liberty bodices - sort of felted undergarments which we wore from November through to Easter. Melissa, the soil, when I get to it, is truly remarkable....the only thing is the acres of ivy crossing and recrossing every inch of ground.....along with the vicious brambles (although mulching head of the brushcutter is sorting that). Oh yeah, those nettles which cover every inch between the ivy vines.........it's going to be a long job.....but as soon as the spade cuts through the top layer of vine and root, it sinks into the earth like a huge downy pillow - tantalisingly out of reach but there still, waiting for many hands to start the ivy pulling and rakeover (off again later today and taking my boys (men) to help. Nik, we are all turning our eyes east to Europe these days and shivering in the chill winds of emerging fascism. We have 2 strands of this in the UK - the crazy but delusional UKIP (no immigrants...and a whole slew of other, less publicised goals) and the horrific coalition of thugs and hate-mongers which comprises the EDL and assorted racist bullies.Truly hope all is well for you and yours. Daisy, I surely will take pics....but 2500, while it sounds a lot, is actually hardly anything when spread around 5 acres. With an eye to establishing colonies, the bulbs have been planted in groups of 100 or so, spread around the woodland - it will be a start but I expect to be waiting at least 5 years before we really have something worth looking at.

Cactus/Caudex.... Instructions that came with the Boojum said to plant it in a very dry, quick-draining medium...and after 10 days, start placing some ice-cubes on top of the medium, so the cubes could slowly melt, and re-hydrate the medium. Damp, but not wet. I was advised by Arizona Cactus Sales to lightly mist the caudex, a few times a day, but not to the point where water would drip, and saturate the area around base of the plant. When I misted the caudex, the top portion has a grey-green color, but the branches are very dry, and to my eye, look dead. I understand that leaves will sprout from the top end, and from the base of the branches. The plant is on my back deck, full sun, protected from rain...so the plant is still dry, except for the mistings. Are the older branches dead? If yes, do I clip them off, and will a new rack of branches take their place? Does it take years for branches to form? The caudex feels like a rock-hard pinecone, and the branches remind me of bamboo skewers with thorns....woody, dry, and very stiff. I'm hoping that this plant will break dormancy, and put out some new roots, and possibly some top-end action, over the Summer. Yes, no, maybe? Comments, thoughts, suggestions....anybody? I thought the same thing about that first SWAT guy unless the guy shot him but I didn't see that. I also thought there was an opportunity for Callie to grab the gun when she gave him the bandages. He had his hand flat and the gun on it and she laid them on top. It seemed like she could have grabbed the gun when she pressed the bandages on top of it.

Yep, 007 was my big question mark too. And I just love Dr. Bailey. She had a good part last night. The wedding was cheesey!!! Of course, that lets them string that event out for another year or till the series ends. It sure looks like in real life the actress who plays Little Grey may be pregnant. Her face has filled out as if she is pregnant. She was always so slender and in the face too, but not now. I noticed they do not show her waist since I have been playing detective. In fact, I thought they might incorporate her pregnancy into the plot, but guess not.
