9/10/11 ...A Great Day for a Birthday

Bigbaby and I are grandparents for the second time. Our daughter went into labor yesterday morning. As the day went on there were times when the babys heart rate would slow down so she had an emergency C-section about 10 last night. Nicholas weighs in at 8 lbs 14 oz., 20 and a half inches long. Mom and baby are doing well this morning. I'll try to get pictures posted in the next few days.

Luanne - I guess I spoke too soon. I called my doctor about doing Dirt Day, and he said he didn't advise it. I knew in my heart that spending the day (especially the middle of the day) outdoors, not to mention the sun during the drive, was a bad idea - I just wanted to do something to help. I think now that the best help I can offer Vintage is to buy another rose (don't know where I'll put it, but I'll manage). I've had a yen for a Pernetiana, but I see they are all on the Custom Rose list. If time is short for Vintage, I don't know if they would accept any custom rose orders. But if not, I'll find something on the Available list. Anyway, good luck with Dirt Day, and I hope you will get plenty of volunteers. Laura

Boxofrox your photos are so lovely ! I love all of them and think it's so sweet you generously share your blooms with everyone !! Your hydrangeas are spectacular . I have been keeping my eye out for a glowing embers since I saw your photos . Jim , if u catch this , I used to live in pa and the year of 9/11 I was a camp counselor at a camp in shanks ville ! The property was so close to the wreckage , we had to not use certain trails because there were government workers collecting various " artifacts " from the plane , and could be seen there. We didn't want to scare the children . It was quite surreal .

Roselee, Thanks, ARE was at the Herb Market yesterday and I mentioned reading the blog. She was a bit surprised, but enjoyed meeting one of her readers. I told her I got the link from you on this site. They say their gardens are looking really good now, so I'm going to try to get out there next weekend.

I spelled his name wrong in the first post. It's Nicolas. No h. This is our 2nd. Nicolas has a big sister, 'Becca who was 6 in March and started first grade last week.
