I need some tips on putting these faux nails without getting the glue on my fingers and having them stick together; getting the nail on a bit crooked and not being able to straighten it out because the glue had already dried; or which hand to do first left or right if you are right handed.
Any suggestions are welcome. I do like the ones that went on straight and fit the nail bed correctly. I just have a couple that are a bit "off."

Please also respond about how safe these are to use. It seems to me your own nails would get spongy. Don't they need to 'breathe' or get fungus-y? When Bush Sr. left the White House, as I think Mrs. B. said she was relieved to stop wearing the nails -- that her own needed to recover.

I didn't know Barbara Bush wore fake nails. But then, there's a lot I don't know. :-)

I only went through two sets of the nails. The first ones stayed on well, and in fact were not easy to remove. Maybe I was impatient with the soaking. In any case, I may have left some traces of glue behind when I applied the second set. I suspect this because the second set didn't stay on nearly as well. Several popped off. It wasn't a big deal because I carried the glue with me, plus some extra nails in case one popped off and got lost (which did happen once).

I loved the way they looked, but was concerned about what the glue might be doing to my nails, which had already suffered damage from Raynaud's Syndrome. So when I removed the second set, I didn't replace them with anything. Meanwhile, I had bought another package of nails, though (I used the Kiss brand), so I might use them at some point if I want my hands to look particularly nice.

Justine, all I can suggest is buying the type that have a tab that you can hold while applying the nail. Before using the glue, hold the nail in the position you'll use to apply it, and then turn your hand over. Put a drop or two of glue on the fake nail, then turn your hand back to the original position and put the nail on your own nail, making sure the bottom edge (cuticle) is properly aligned.

I hope Jodi or Liz_ga will jump in here, as they've had a lot more experience with them than I.
