Jasdip, we would never let the animals go hungry. The shelter in Galveston has continued to donate to me because I took in several of their unadoptable cats, and they have been very good to me. When we don't have food, we buy it. Actually, Mare, she dumped me. I am glad to be rid of her, but was strapped by the food issue. Now though, she has given her "permission" that my wildlife can have food. The donors never realized that 90% of the donated food went to me because my animals are all alive. Dead animals don't eat very much. Actually, she has taken to "farming" out most of the animals brought to her, so they are in better hands because most people who take them to raise, really want to do right by them. Oh, Lord! The pig situation!! I had Pig Sue...spayed, big pet. She was stolen but not before Pig Lee showed up....wild...and later, Pig Newton. Pig Lee was too wild to get spayed and by the time she was tame, too big. She and Newton had many children....I think we have sold about 40 of them so far. Her oldest daughter, Delores, and she had 11 pigs this spring. They are all big enough to go now and as much as I hate to see Pig Lee go, I can't keep having all these baby pigs. Pig Newt weighs about 600 lb. He is wild but he will take food from my hand. I don't try to pet him though, because he could be dangerous, especially if he got scared. The horses and donkeys and mule are fine........however, we may be welcoming a little mule foal in a few months. My donkeys were fighting, so had to separate them until we could get them gelded. Due to having to keep them in pastures that didn't adjoin, Amos went in with the mares. I didn't worry too much about him breeding the mares, until I saw him breed "my mare"....Mariah. I am not 100% sure she settled, but I have been watching her carefully.....and from what I know about such things, I think so. I could have her checked by the vet, but I will know soon enough. I wouldn't care if one of the other mares had a mule foal, but if it happens, it will probably be Mariah. Here is a picture of Pig Newton.

Mamapinky, I washed them in my washing machine in cold water. I know they probably should have been dry cleaned but I had too many. Plus, if they turned out badly....no real loss, since I have never used them and probably never will. I washed them with Era and Biz and used fabric softener on them. I dried them in the shade....hung them on the fence. They all came out nice and soft. Two of the blankets are camp blankets and have the name of the camp on them....one is Ridgecrest...can't remember the other one....and the name of the camper. Another one has a tag that says Made in Australia, 1943. Then there are some with a Pendleton tag and some with other tags. I have about a dozen and about an equal number of wool throws. I have a "new...to me" washing machine. At first I didn't like it very much. It is a GE, like my old faithful, and has an agitator but I am used to one that really washes hard and this one just sort of swirls the water through the clothes, but I am okay with it now, because it really gets everything clean. Jody hired his helper again the next day, but halfway through the day, he hurt his back. He hobbled around in pain for the rest of the day....had to take helper home...and I thought he would be down for quite awhile. I hurt my back awhile back and it took a few weeks before it quit hurting. However, the next day, he was back at it and hasn't said much more about his back. Glad he had a quick recovery. ;) We moved home two nights ago. We are sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. I will buy a bed and mattress as soon as I get a chance to go out and look for one. Probably this weekend. Still haven't got the horses home....still working on the fence. Lots of big trees fell on the fence. The old fence would have held my horses but Amos, the donkey, will be out with them, and he is very independent and he will leave if he sees an opportunity. He will come back, but the horses will follow him and it is dangerous, since there is a highway about 3/4 of a mile away. We have done a lot but it is hard to see we have made any progress because there is still so much to do. We keep working on it.

Our ghost followed us here. I knew he would. I call it the poltergeist but it isn't like a true poltergeist...I don't think. Activity increased before we left, and has been active here. Before you think I have been out in the sun too long...here are a couple of examples. My husband bought a new saw blade for his skilsaw. Couldn't find it. We all looked everywhere. Showed up the next day in the front seat of the truck. In plain sight. The company I had, got ready to go. Couldn't find her glasses. She said she looked in her purse several times. Told me to look. Not much in her purse, so I took out her wallet, lighter, cigarettes, chap stick. Put it all back in. She called when she got home...glasses in her purse. Right on top. I collect marbles and someone gave me a pretty bottle to put marbles in. It had a slip of paper in it and I fished it out...with a little difficulty because it is a decanter. Narrow neck. Fed horses, was going to wash the bottle. Paper was back in there. Took it out again....hope it stays out this time. My mother always told me....no such thing as ghosts. Okay. I can go along with that, but odd things happen that I have no explanation for. Home alone this morning. Jody has gone to see someone about a dog fence.

I can’t help thinking about how he always had your back no matter what-taking in downtrodden animals of all sorts- he didn’t seem to bat an eye, risking his life in the flood, buying/building/ moving your last house,, the move to TX-so many trips back and forth, and moving those huge cement troughs!!! Whatever needed to be done, he did it, as long as he could. He was a true partner. He will Rest In Peace knowing he got you settled in your dream place. I’m glad he lived long enough to see that.
