He was going for cataracts surgery and they sent him to a retina specialist and now found he has AMD (where you loose your central vision).

Two years ago they came out with shots you can have in your eyeball to help prevent any more damage one is approved and the other is not.

The doctor says the one that is not approved is the one showing the most good.

Now we have to go back everyy monthe to check to see if his eyes are any better.

He is a avid hunter so I dont know what he will do if he looses his central viwion,

I can just see me leading him around with a rope LOL

Keep us in your good thoughts I am just now getting over being a caregiver for my dear Mom for 7 years.

Lots of good thoughts for your DH. Hope the docs can save his vision. Hugs for you too. One can feel so helpless just standing by.

Thanks All! By this morning, I was feeling much better after receiving your sympathic shoulders & comments! Yep, they got rules about curtains (must be showing only white to the outside), and Yep, I do live in the Country - about 1 hr past the 'burbs - takes 45 min to get anywhere - but when we moved here 9 yrs ago from 40th St & 2nd Ave Manhattan, w/2 very very busy self-employeds (I worked 70 hrs/wk then), we figured new construction townhouse would be better than an older home w/roof & furnace probs - of course, the new constrx (& affordable px) came w/a HOA. This has been an unbelievable day in Alabama! The weather people had predicted that the tornadoes would be numerous and powerful. They were so right. There have been multiple tornadoes with many fatalities and unbelievable destruction. Tuscaloosa had an enormous tornado that had confirmed minimum of 15 deaths. We know there were at least 40 confirmed deaths in the state. Cullman has had three tornadoes. Birmingham was hit by a terrible tornado. A suburb of Birmingham, Pleasant Grove had horrendous damage with fatalities There was one tornado in our county, but the damage was south of us. We spent some time in our basement, and no, not everyone has basements, but you spend time in it if a tornado is approaching. One of the things that enhanced the death toll may have been the early morning storms that resulted in many people losing power. They would be less likely to know that a storm was on the way. My DGD was in the house with her other grandmother, and the tornado hit the street where she was. The windows in her house were blown out, and out of the houses on the street were heavily damaged. In fact the house she was in is the only house on the block still standing. There was a fatality on the street. She reports that the sound of a tornado is indeed very like the sound a train makes. I feel very blessed that all of my family is safe. I hope everyone on the forum remains safe. Have we heard from Jean? kay

I hope all she needs is stents but I have had three friends under go by pass in the last month....all in their eighties and doing very well. Good thoughts coming to your friend, Sally. The good news is that she's aware of her problem and can take the necessary steps to correct it.

My very best wishes to your husband with his treatments Ima. I have a friend who is going through this same thing right now. She's had at least 3 of the shots you mentioned and is doing very well. I pray the same for your hubby.

Sorry about your husband...I was just talking to Denny's old friend Tom. The one who used to come over every Friday night for dinner and a movie. He has been diagnosed with it also.

I was asking my daughter about it..She works for an eye care place. She said many of the people learn to see pretty well out of the sides. They just turn their heads a little. He won't be able to drive after it gets bad. Tom was told he'd probably notice a big difference after about 8 years.Will they still take the cateracts off?

At our church picnic Monday all the guys at church are getting into archery...they all brought their bows...so Denny took his. Even though he hasn't gotten it out but once since he had that stroke. He did pretty good...but his arm sure was sore yesterday.

I'll be keeping him in prayers....and (((HUGS))) for you both...

My husband has had three eye surgeries this year, two for cataracts, one for a tear in his retina. His surgeons were excellent. He now has such good vision he can read a newspaper without glasses. I hope your husband has good fortune and good vision!

I've never heard of such a thing. I hope that everything works out for you dear hubby. My hubby is blind in one eye, I'm sure it is not always easy, but he does great.
I will keep your DH in my prayers that the procedures work.
