Why wouldn't I be posting?

So far it's just rain and high winds. In fact it is barely raining out now!!! We had some thunder and lightning this morning. There are reports of lots of water on the roads but I just dropped Joe off at work and the roads were just wet with no standing water at all. Unless it gets a whole lot worse really quickly I think this might just be overexaggerated, at least for my area.

I've got lots to do today so I won't be shut up in the house. :)

I was just watching Canada AM and they said that Conception Bay is being hit with very hard rain and it's going to St. Johns. High winds and rain.

Maybe Igor is over-exaggerated like you said.

The worse area so far seems to be the Burin Peninsula......hours away from here. It's still not raining very hard where I am.

but do you's not find that for most of the storms these days the media "does" over exaggerate them?

Nice that you were concerned just the same jasdip!

Thanks OntGal! You're right!
Like, a winter snow is a *Storm* for heavens sakes!!

Jeesh, all Marci Ien talked about was the rain and high winds and fallen trees. Someone wrote in and said it was raining and blowing so hard it was like snow.

So I thought of Casey. Since Newfoundland is so small and an island, I figured it the whole province would be a mess.

igor, they said, was going 40 something mpr so was moving fast...bet that saved alot of rain...the surfers were hitting some big waves in jersey...lol...

i'm still astounded to have seen a tornado touch down in brooklyn, last week...

That was nice of you to be concerned and make sure she's ok, Jasdip.

I've been watching videos of the damage caused by the storm - crazy! Bridges washed out, leaving people stranded. Several towns have had to declare states of ermergency. Apparently there are downed trees and power outages everywhere. I just read that one man was swept out to sea.

My dad in St. John's had to evacuate his apartment building because part of the roof blew off. I haven't heard from my sister who lives right on the ocean - she can throw rocks in the water from her house - I'm sure they're okay, but it's still nerve wracking!

Scary stuff.

Wow, stay safe. The amusing thing is that the hurricane reached you a lot faster than I could by plane.

It did its share of damage here but I'm suprised it's still packing winds because it left here less than a Category 1.

We've been through worse, but this one scared the beejeebers out of a lot of people (unless they slept through it like me).
