As with any style of music much depends on the performers but overall, yes I like Barbershop Quartet.

Nita, my Dad also sang in a barbershop quartet, and an all mens chorus. In a part of Pennsylvania dotted with small coal mining towns, the miners chorus and quartet was well known and about the only entertainment offered at 'events' in the area. My Dad sang bass, and my brother in high school, filled in for him if needed. I loved it then and still do. I can close my eyes and picture Dad's group and hear the beautiful harmony still...some 50 years later.

I'm not too crazy about it, in my ear, they often sound off-key, although I;m sure their not. I love a good chorus. In the town I used to live, we had a city woman's and men's chorus and once a year we would combine for a variety show. It was always a different theme and so much fun. The last one I was in before moving away, was an Oldies show. I did one of the solos, doing Rosemary Cloony's Come-on-a My House. I sure miss just getting together weekly just to sing.

I like all sorts of A Capella singing.

I like a capella as well. It's very big on college campuses these days but has evolved a lot from your father's barbershop quartet style.

I conducted a Sweet Adelines group for a few years, it was lots of fun and craziness!!

I love barbershop quartet singing. DS wants to join a group. In high school, a friend's dad sang in a quartet and we would go to performances. I still remember SFPEBQSA, Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.

Growing up my mom was a Sweet Adaline singer. I loved it. I credit my hours of listening to them for my very good ear. I joined the same chapter when I was 20 but was so busy I couldn't stick with it. I'm sort of biding my time right now. I LOVE to vocalize and want to join our local chapter but it's about 40 minutes away. I don't want to leave my kids at home while I'm out of town at night.

I too, enjoy a capella groups. One of my favorites is Chanticleer, a group of 12 men, based 40 miles from my home. They are touring the U.S. and 12 foreign countries this season.

I love to listen to voices harmonize.

I know they weren't an a capella group, but I still listen to the old Andrews Sisters songs because they harmonized so well.

I love to hear them and the old fashioned songs that they sing. Nanny

I sang in Sweet Adelines when I lived in Dallas. We had over 100 Choral Members and we did Choreography as well. We were Regional Champions.

We sang very modern songs in Barbershop Style. My Favorites were "New York, New York", "Putin on the Ritz" and "Georgia". Oh yes and for fun we sang, "Celebration". I still remember the Choreography after all thes years. We were drilled very well. Fun, fun, fun.

I like listening for about a half hour.

My Youngest son while in High School sang with a Quartet in Miami Fla it was an adult group He also started a quartet in high schoo and they even sang for the city wide athletic awards show one season. He had a beautiful voice .

I can't hear the term "a cappella" without thinking of Barney Fife when he sang a cappella. "a cappelllllla, a cappelllllllla uh, I don't remember all the words..." :D

Father sang Barbershop in The Johnny Appleseed district, as I recall. I sang in Sweet Adelines prolly 30 years ago. LOVE IT

I love all the patriotic numbers.

And I just LOVE leaning into the final taggers, those uplifting, lingering note endings of each and every song!
