Thanks so much, lori. That's what I thought at first, too. I figured the other paint has just aged or I thought maybe it's because I moved from a satin finish to a semi-gloss. However, I've painted a lot over the 30 years I've owned homes and this is very different than anything else I've seen. The trim (new paint) looks bright, cool white and the walls (which were actually, just in this one room, painted last year) look cream next to it. As I was painting the trim, the new paint looked nothing like the old paint it was going over. I have some Advance left over from painting the kitchen cabs at our lake house last year. I think I will go do a sample bit in that and see how it looks. I didn't want to use the leftover Advance for this trim as it takes so long to dry, but if it's a closer match, I will. I'm most worried about the wall paint. I was going to repaint all the bedrooms, but I'm really not a fan of cool whites and this is just looking ugly to me - esp. for a bedroom.

The formula is just a recipe, a list of ingredients mixed into a paint base. It's not a definition - or description - of a color. There's no way to look up the list of ingredients and then correlate them to a stock paint color. Because there is more than one way to create a recipe for a paint color and get the same result. The only way to do what you want to do is to measure the color you have. You need the CIE Lab values measured with the standard of D65 Illuminant, 2 degree observer. Either do it yourself with a portable colorimeter or spectrophotometer. Since you're dealing with gloss, I'd use a Spectro 1 Pro from Variable. Change the settings to the standard D65 Illuminant, 2 degree observer. Or get a Mighty Board and paint a very, very neat sample of 2 coats for your store to measure for you. Do 3 coats if there is any question that 2 are properly hiding the Mighty Board. Mighty Boards are an ideal substrate for samples (IMO).

I made the original post regarding this issue and I am also deeply disappointed in Miele. With the prices they charge for their powder detergents in the US, $35 a box or over 2.5x as much per ounce as Tide powder, there is no excuse for a cut-rate formula. It is also quite sad and cynical they they feel the US deserves lower quality products than the European market, especially given that their detergents cost much more here. I am particularly concerned, especially given that they are falsely advertising UltraColor powder as having seven enzymes, when in fact it only has two, that they are also lying about how many enzymes other of their detergents have in the US. In particular UltraPhase 1 does not yet have its ingredients listed online, which is in violation of California law. It states on the product page that it contains 7 enzymes but I see no reason to trust Miele on this now. I would like to know if it doesn’t so that I can change to a different detergent, especially for the fabric-care benefit of cellulase enzymes. The same concerns apply to the UltraDark sold in the US. Miele’s not posting ingredients for all their detergents is very low hanging fruit for a costly enforcement action for their many violations of the California Cleaning Product Right to Know Act. I hope that one way or another they honestly disclose their ingredients to their US customers and provide us with the same formulas as they sell in Europe. I would complain to Miele USA but their outsourced customer service is so laughably horrible, as attested to by screenshots of emails elsewhere in this forum, that, unless somebody knows a better avenue or contact to whom to complain, I’m not sure there’s any point…

So I did get a gallon of White Dove recently (Scuff-X satin) to repaint all my interior trim. The color formula for Scuff-x and Aura is very similar. The new White Dove formula has less yellow and now has added red toner. I actually really like the new formula for White Dove. To me, it looks more like how the paint chip looks - so for me, it was a good change. I think the change makes White Dove look more neutral - not too yellow, not pink, not dingy. Just a soft neutral white. I like the less yellow look it has now. I also got Classic Gray Aura both a few years ago and last week and that color formula for Classic Gray has not changed at all. I checked the formulas on both old cans and new. I am painting my whole house interior and I cannot see a difference between my new and old gallons of Classic Gray, but I do see the difference in the White Dove. So BM decided to change the color formula on White Dove specifically - for whatever reason. Again, I really like the new White Dove. It is a beautiful color. I like the old formula of White Dove much less, so this was a good change in my opinion. It is a small change to the formula - most people probably won't notice it, but I am sensitive to color differences and variances. If you are using the new White Dove in a new house/space, it shouldn't be a problem because you aren't trying to match the old paint with new paint. Also, your new house trim and doors is never going to look the same as your old house because they aren't the same spaces - you are dealing with different lighting/windows, etc, and those factors make the undertones and perception of color different. It's more likely that you just don't like how White Dove looks in your new house. You probably just need to pick a new color for your new house.
