Wow, a 25% increase??? The only beer drinkers in my family are my son and DH(occasional). The only bright spot in the price increase is the possibility that my son may drink less!?! I know it may be wishful thinking but a Mom looks for hope wherever she can get it.

I buy beer every week... a 12 pack of Milwaukee's Best Light for less than $5.50.. so I guess I'll have to come up with an extra dollar fifty. Still cheaper than most of the other alcoholic stuff.

Let's see, I drink maybe two beers a year, a case will last me a very long time . . .

I thought of you and the Eggsperts post when I got some coupons in the mail to the local supermarket. One of their special specials this month is 2 18 count packs grade A large for ......drumroll........$2.

I won't miss using that coupon, and might get an extra elsewhere.

WOW! Is this ALL brands of beer or one in particular? I know Budweiser, the KING of Beers was just sold to a Belgium company. Hope they are not gonna mess up a good thing by raising prices! If so, that might make Miller Brewing #1 and there go the prices for sure!!!

I have been paying $6.99 for a 12 pkg of Miller Lite....this has been a "special" for almost a month now!

You can expect the increases on most brands. It's being attributed primarily to the increase in the price of hops and secondarily to the general increase in grain prices. Of course fuel prices will impact delivery costs too.

When my mother was young and in school, she and her mom used to pick hops. She would love a nice cold beer these days, but her meds won't allow it. Drat.

I only buy beer for guests and to use in 'ritas and Summer Beer. I maybe buy a 12 pack twice a year. I bet the cost of fuel is driving the prices up, too, no pun intended.

Yes, Spicey, I do. And so do a lot of peeps! It adds a lightness, a frothiness, if you will. You don't really taste it, either. Woody despises beer but loves these 'ritas.

Equal parts of the following....

Limeade- 12 oz can
Tequila (or vodka for mock-a-ritas)
Beer
Water (optional, stretches it farther, I don't do it)
I've tried adding Grand Marnier or Triple Sec but it really doesn't add to it, IMO.

Mix and serve, salt rims if desired. I so desire. lol

Summer Beer is pink lemonade, vodka, beer and water. I always use the water for Summer Beer.

I haven't broke the news to Jammer yet. Actually we don't buy much beer and seldom keep any at home. If we are going to BBQ with his brothers, then we usually take an 18 pk of Bud lite.

As a person who has had a few of Flamey's 'ritas with beer, I can honestly say they are the best!!! And I don't like beer.

Flamey, I use Limeade, tequila, triple sec, and keep that in the freezer. When I make my margarita, I fill the salt rimmed glass 1/3 full of that mixture and add 1/3 tonic water, and 1/3 ice. I know a lot of people who do use beer in theirs too. Mom and I always have one or two at the cabin on the weekend, around 3:00 or 4:00.

Oh yah, I forgot to say, it's all beer that's going up. I paid $15.99 for a 24 pack. But he said it'll be at least $20.00 after the hike.

We don't drink much beer around here either, but we like to keep some on hand to make ritas, summer beer and cook with. Soooo, thanks for the headsup Leslie. Guess beer is going on the grocery list.

Leslie, I could drink your margaritas! No problemo! lol Premaking them like that is an excellent idea. I like the sound of the tonic, too, for lightness/bubbles. What is it about limes that just makes me happy?

I love beer so will certainly be affected by the price hike. I like Amstel Light and Pacifico.

My favorite way to drink a beer is to frost the glass, rub the rim with lime, dip it in margarita salt, squeeze the rest of the lime in the glass and enjoy.

Sounds like I'm already paying inflated prices by what you all are paying. The 12-pack of Amstel Light I bought last weekend cost me ~$13.00.

Do you have a link to your story? My buddy and I like microbrew and craft beers. Usually runs about 6.99-8.99 for a six pack but man they are good. Might be worth looking into doing some home brewing. We have talked about it but that is as far as it has gone. Our wives don't care for beer much so me and my buddy would be the only ones drinking it. My get us in trouble though if we had 5 gallons sitting there. LOL!

No link to any story. It came from a close friend who works in a liquor store. The distributor told him that. So I ask the guy at the store the other day when I bought my case. And he said it was true, and that some had already increased in price.
