I went to the brunch today and we were talking about getting together and playing card games.

There is one that is popular now that you play as a foursome -I think.

You can buy the cards.

I cannot think for the life of me what it is called.

Think it ends with an O .

Any ideas? Thanks !

It's a form of Canasta. You need a certain number of points in cards to get on the table. All cards have a point value. For example you can't lay down less then a total of 50 points to start. That is pretty easy. But we play in rounds and by the 4th or 5th round you need 150/190 points to get in the game. So at that point we deal 13 cards instead of the usual 11. At the start each player takes cards off the stack and deals out two hands of 11 cards each, one for themselves and one for the person on their left. You tell the person on the left whether the cards you gave them are their hand or their foot. They cannot look at their foot until all of their hand is depleted.

I play once a month with real people. I wasn't aware there was a computer version. The game is fun because it's a social game. The competitiveness, gentle ribbing and laughter are part of the experience. I don't think I would be interested in the online version.

I just purchased this preowned game table that folds out and swivels to 39" square. It's by Hooker and very sturdy. I would love any ideas to get rid of the "old world" look. Even thought about having checkerboard square painted in the middle when open. Could lacquer paint be an option??? Also what style chairs would you recommend?

Ok, boy were we off, it is not a card game, it is a dice game. It does end in an o though- it is BUNCO. Has anyone played this?

Yes, it is fun and mindless, so you can chat and have a good time while you play it.

Yes, I've sat in as a sub a couple of times. It's an okay game. I was going to say Racko. Now there's an old one.

I have never played it, but heard of it ----- Bunko --- Does it use regular cards or a special set?
My DIL plays it with her neighbors, I'll ask her.

Sorry I spoke too soon! Bunko is a dice game! LOL

I like Racko, it uses 4 trays that you put your cards in order in.

I played bunco at the senior center today. 3 dice. First you roll for ones, then 2's, etc. We had 4 tables of 4 today. Costs $3 to play and I won back $2.

I still have our Racko game! and Uno and Parcheesi and Pokeno! There are others up there I just can"t remember the names of them.
Thanks to all who helped out.
So a mindless game -huh. I should be good with that. My mind wanders a bit now.

Uno, I still have a deck of the cards. My in-laws loved to play when we got together. I often lost.
