My first experience with Five Guys & Fries was in MN at Hayjud's house. Boy was it delicious and an order of fries could feed 3 people. There now is one in Tucson and we have eaten there once, it was as I remembered. They are all over the place now as we have seen in our travels.

Glad I didn't get fries, as the burger was really filling.

Glenda, we went to the one in Trussville last week and the burger was fine but the fries were awful. Plenty of them but soggy. I like my fries very crisp and these weren't. I won't be back. For the price I'll go to Red Robin.

We have a Five Guys near us and I don't care for it, but DH likes it. Lots of food, but the fries are soggy and the hamburger doesn't have much flavor. I've been spoiled by In and Out burger. Love everything about their burgers and fries and happy that I have one a near by.

I enjoy their burgers, a bit too greasy!! But their fries are AWESOME!!!! And they just heap in the Fries!!!

Glenda you went to one of my favorites. I always get the little cheeseburger which is not little at all and there is no reason to go there if you dont get the fries. They are yummy and you must put vinegar on them. Just delicious. Satine

We LOVE 5-guys. Don't think there's one that close to the new house, though.

I always get the smaller (one patty) burger. We order one small order of fries to share, and I have enough left to take home and heat up for lunch the next day. The fries are fantastic--taste just like fries on the Boardwalk used to when I was a kid.

We have one close by but our experience was not as good as yours. We've never gone back. Glad your experience was a good one. Maybe one of these days we'll try it again.

Cheap? No way! When they opened here in May, I got a small burger with cheese, fries and a medium drink. $10.18 with tax. In-N-Out is less that $6 for the same.

But it was good. And yes, fries are to be shared. I prefer In-N-Out's fries ordered well done, tho.

It's my favorite burger place. Glenda, you have to try the fries, but I bet you would have leftovers on one small order even if you had PJR with you. They really load that brown bag up! They cut the fries themselves--just like homemade. We don't go often, but I always get the small one--so does Harry. Goodness, that sounds so good right now!

My regular hamburger was less than $6. Lot of burger for that price.

Yes, my Five Guys meal was 'little' cheeseburger, small fries, med. drink = $10.18.

At In-N-Out, the same combo was less than $6 total, comparable excellent burger.

Next time treat yourself to the fries......they are too good!

I don't like their food, Glender - too much seasoning for my taste buds.

I like the burger, but it isn't cheap in my area. I always thought their bun was their Achilles heel. Maybe it has changed since the last time I ate there a year ago. At that time, it was no different than a bun I buy in a grocery store package. I have only had their small Jr. burger, if that matters.

Gave then a couple of chances.

Tried a burger, managed to eat half and threw the rest out. It was a soggy,doughy mess.

Tried a hot dog They are supposed to be split and grilled. Luke warm on the inside. Tossed it.

Won't be back. I have two little local places to go for burgers. One is very very good and one is excellent with a choice of meats and PROPERLY toasted buns. The second one even has real red relish at their condiment bar.

We also have a place that does old fashioned burgers and dogs. The dogs snap when you bite into them. The burgers are huge and come with fresh toppings. The fries are skinny and crisp. I had a chili cheese dog earlier there. The dog was hot hot hot all the way through and the fries didn't leave a spot of grease behind on the paper lined basket.

On the road I will sometimes do In and Out.

Mine was wonderful, not greasy in any way. Everyone has their own choice and way of enjoying burgers. To each their own.

I'll go again, but probably not the fries.

Will you take PJR?? Maybe after an ortho appt. I'm not much of a fry person, but theirs are GOOD! I could go for a burger and fries right now! Its a good thing they don't have a drive-thru. FIve Guys are popping up all over the place here.

We went to the one on Ocala, FL. Neither of us liked the burger or the fries.

One moved into the shopping center across the street from my subdivision. I'd been to another Five Guys and felt it was OK. Ate at this newer one and I think the cooking grease really got to me (stomach ache -- nothing too grafik!).

Just a warning, tho -- if anybody gets fries to go, by the time you're home the grease will soak through the bag. It makes you realize how much grease you're ingesting -- if you really needed that extra "thunk" upside your head! I'm not anti-fast-food, and I like a good burger and fries, but that greasy bag just got to me ...

Glad you enjoyed your meal, Glenda! I did like the fact that the burger was made to order, not something precooked and sitting under a heat lamp.

OMG !!!!! look up the calorie count on anything on their menu and that alone would make it a choice of last resort.
I went once a couple of years ago after hearing everybody rave about it too.
Not impressed at all soggy fries and the burger was not anything to get excited about it.
Never went back.

Gemini - I liked their hamburger but I didn't think it was fantastic. But when I looked at the calorie count I decided it's not worth it. A hamburger has 700 calories, 400 of it from fat.

They do give you a huge bag of fries that is more than enough for 2 people. Pammyfay is right about the grease, it soaks right through the bag.

Don't think I've ever tried Five Guys burger, as I go there specifically for a hot dog (Polish sausage)as it's about the only place in town that has one on it's menu. I usually get the fries as they are pretty good, and I always take most of them home to my pup.

A tip: I always keep a old plastic shopping bag in my purse 'just in case' and in the case of the fries, it keeps the grease from damaging anything. I've found lots of other times when having a plastic bag comes in handy, too.

My friend in Florida and I went to one in Ft. Myers and it was good but we couldn't handle the loud music.....

When I think of 5 guys, I think of one of my grandsons and his 4 buddies....Last year, in their sr. year at a Catholic high school, the girl's field hockey team didn't have enough girls and opened it up to the fellows...Well, you guessed it, grand and 4 others played girls field hockey and HAD to wear the same uniforms which consisted of short skirts....Yep, there they were in their little skirts but had a great time.....They were on national TV and there was an article in the USA Today newpaper headed, "Five Guys is not just a place to eat"........

Good to "see" you again, Ol' Joyful! I had time to kill at Dulles recently, was soooo hungry and found a Five Guys near my gate. I wolfed that sucker down!

I think Five Guys was started here (NorthernVA) and they are headquartered in my hometown!

I love their burgers, so fres! But not big on the fries. Reminds me of Boardwalk fries. I prefer crispier ones, but you do get a ton, and I like that they will tell you exactly where the potatoes are from.

Plus they tell you how long of a wait you have before your burger is done.

And the hamburger buns were so fresh!

I'm not a biggie on ff's.

My experience, my first one, was as good as it can get with a regular hamburger.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes, and I'll go again.
