Here's how these go. Bearings are replaceable and can be sourced at nearly any decent OPE dealer or bearing house. The lowers take most the wear and if you wanted to do it on the cheap- you could get away with just the lowers on your own equipment. After driving out the shaft, give the tops a roll w/ the tip of your finger. If they roll smooth, they're ok. About a 1/4 of the time the lower bearing comes out with the shaft -meaning you would need to go through the work of pulling or have it pulled from the shaft. BTW, don't remove the spindles from the deck to do the bearing work. 143651 is the complete mandrel # should you have a cracked leg. You can also replace just the shaft kit. They used to come with both bearings, but I think they now include only the lower.

Yep, that's it. Some roses are even MORE quilled though...like flat, pointy ribbons on a bow, open in the center, exposing their stamens with no shame! Thanks for the photos though. Beautiful roses on the link! Hosenemesis-I don't know why your mom would've called them "cabbage roses" either...cabbage roses are one of my favorite forms...the old fashioned types are so pretty! I don't grow the true type, but do love the Austins and Romanticas that grow in this shape. :0) Phyl

Hi. Just joined because I wanted to offer some advice regarding T. Cyanea. The one that I have is blooming nicely. I have it in a pot in peat moss & orchid bark (2:1 mix). Before I potted it, I submerged most of it in water (not the base which was covered in a plastic bag) for a few hours since it was received by mail. Since potting it, I've been misting it at least twice a day, alternating with a weak mix of diluted hydrogen peroxide, making sure the leaves are wet. The most important things are air flow and light. It's in my workplace where it doesn't get any sunlight, just office lights, but it's doing very well. All my air plants are thriving despite the lack of sunlight. Another thing that I've done is misting them with air plant food diluted in water at least once a month. It seems to help especially when they are flowering. So if you mist, just make sure the leaves are wet and try to avoid the bloom (it will wilt when water hits it).

That's neat Kay....love yours too Chris. Here's one that I've had for years and years and I haven't a clue what it is. I know it's a reg. cv however, because it came from a collectors garden. When he passed away, his widow gave all his dl's away. I got several from her including Miss Jessie which I did remember the name of. :) I wasn't into dl's then as I am now. LOL Anyway, this one consistently quills and although this is an old photo, it's blooming right now. I just haven't taken any pics of it this season. Jan
