Does anyone take it? Side effects etc.??? How is it working for you?

Caroline, both Twinkie and I took it for quite awhile. We both did fine on it. We decided to change to Celexa (the generic form) because it is only $10 a month co-pay. The Cymbalta was costing us $60 a month a piece. I told the dr. that I would feel much less depressed and anxious if I could save $50 a month on each of us! LOL

Seriously, I didn't have any weird side effects, or anything. (Shut up, you guys....)

I was on Cymbalta and I found it very effective for the depression/anxiety and for my arthritic pain.
I was on it about five months and started having heart irregularities, double vision, excessive gas and bloating, diarrhea and tremors.
I stopped the medicine as directed by my psychiatrist and it took about a week for the side effects to improve dramatically.
I am now started on Lexapro and will see how I do on it.
It is a great drug if you don't develop side effects and most people do not get the symptoms I did.

Florence, there are answers, and I hope your doctors find them soon. I had student a couple of years ago who had horrible headaches much of the time. She was 16 and had been to many places including Mayos. Last year I received an email from the parents that they had taken her to M.D. Anderson in Houston. They found something very tiny in her brain. They fixed it, and now she feels great. Sometimes it may not be the facility, but the doctors who happen to be there. You just need the right person to discover what is wrong. I hope you will be able to get some other opinions, and find out what in the world has happened. (A fellow teacher said that her daughter had minor surgery in her abdomen, the surgery made a nerve angry --"angry nerve???" And that was the cause of her pain. Julie I can understand the heat thing. I can no longer work out in the heat of the day due to High blood pressure. I can't even stand out in the sun without feeling the effects of the sun. It never bothered me before and after talking to my dad he said the same thing happened to him. I now only work outside in the early morning and late evening's. I was like you. a really hyper person not really realizing that I was cause I lived with it, but I was never ever still, family members would ask me can't you just sit for awhile LOL. Not if I didn't have to. Having to slow down just kills me. My mind races with what I wish or want to do but can't cause of inability to do them. I had a Risotomy done last Monday and it is showing effects that can happen when they burn the nerves, this is the only way I get relief from the pain. While making a sandwich for lunch I was holding the bread spreading may-o on it and my hand started shaking bad, enough so that I had to put the bread down or end up having it fall on the counter. Risotomy's can also lead to seizures. I have three more to go through and hope nothing happens. The bad part of it is that it only last for maybe a year and have to go through it all over again. I am scared of what's to come and what type of life I will have. I don't know how I will handle being in a wheel chair and depended on people to do thing's for me. I'm not that type of person to ask for help in this way. My grandfather was like that he'd do thing's he shouldn't have done risking his health. It's so hard to realize that we have to sit back and do only what our bodies allow us.

My dats didnt have as big of a tap root as I heard they would. I always put mine in 8oz plastic cups once they are big enuf to come out of their domes. They stay in the cups till they go into the ground or pots outside. I did succesfully overwinter a double purple and a triple yellow this winter. I kept them in sunny windows. I see no reason you can't do them in 5 gallon buckets, as long as you have sufficent drainage holes. I have 5 holes in each of my 5 gallon buckets. The dats seem to need way more water when in pots versus in the ground. Like every day like brugs! Stay calm, and dont stress. Easier said than done right? I know..but try. I'm sure the weekend will go just fine. I'm glad to hear the B&D are helping. How long do they expect the withdrawals to take? Dont worry about them seeing you like this..they know what has been going on right? They know about the meds, so I am sure they will understand if you're not completely yourself. Once they are there, hopefully you'll stop stressing about it, and all will go smoothly. Close your eyes, and take a deep breath..It will be fine. ((hugs))

How tragic, Stacy. Will you be going to the court, too? I hope that Lee doesn't know where Stacy is. I do imagine that her parental rights will soon be terminated, as well, and I'm so, so sorry for you and the children. But - as you know, Kasey has chosen this lifestyle for herself. I'm not saying she's a bad person. She's made bad decisions and her children have suffered for it. I hope that they're doing as well as can be expected in foster care. I applaud you for your "tough love" when she didn't come home (to your home) the other night. You stood up against enabling her; good for you. Keep us posted; we're pulling for you. Suzieque

Caroline, I am on Cymbalta now. I started last December and my doctor said to stay on it at least one year. When I first started it I noticed that the pain from my fibromyalgia dramatically disappeared!! It was unbelievable. The mental aspect was good too. I didn't have that overwhelming sad weepy feeling anymore. I was going through a really tough time in my life and my doctor begged me to just try this new drug. I am so glad I did.

I did tell her I want to get off it at some point but I also don't want to have to take Motrin (big doses) because of the fibro pain. She said we would talk about it the next time I met with her.

Oh, another good thing about it is my "emotional" eating changed. It seemed to help me not use food when I was feeling depressed and low. The only way I could explain it to my doctor was to say, "Food will always be my friend, but it's not my therapist anymore." I don't know if that's typical...but that has been my response to the drug.

I hope this helps. I had to try Lexapro and Wellbutrin before finding that Cymbalta worked. So don't give up hope if this isn't a match for you.
