Have you ever had a Bloody Caesar?

A Canadian friend sent me this recipe. She says it's a very popular drink in Canada, but US bartenders don't seem to know what it is. Sounds like something I'd like.

1 oz vodka

salt

celery salt

pepper

1 dash Worcestershire sauce

1 dash Tabasco sauce

Clamato juice

Rim tall glass with celery salt, fill with ice and ingredients. Garnish with a celery stick, straw, and lime.

Love Caesars! We don't have many bloody marys here at all. We drink Caesars instead. You can make it as spicy as you like. I like lots of black pepper in it.

Love love love a good bloody caesar!

Vancouver was where I had my first one, and Seattle had the best ever, and both times were going on an Alaskan cruise.

Bar tender has to know what he's doing for it to be a good one.

Cruising they just aren't as good on the ship.

Love them! Sure beats a bloody mary.

I've never had a wild turkey for Thanksgiving but I've eaten at least a couple dozen over my lifetime. We always eat them fresh within a day or 2 of the kill and the seasons here are in April and October. My favorite ways to prepare is either grilled or cut the breast in thick slabs, bread or batter, and fry in peanut oil. Sometimes we soak the meat in buttermilk for several hours if time permits. I've never had one taste gamey at all. Best turkeys I've ever had were all wild.

@hhireno that Broccoli slaw looks really good, thx! I don't mind them with mayo and bacon but i prefer a cleaner, fresher taste. On an entirely different note, I lobbied to make broccoli cornbread as a side with our BBQ* chicken tonight. I have one who vetoed cornbread, so I had to satisfy my craving with a broccoli casserole. This one was quite good. To make it a tad healthier, I doubled the broccoli and kept all the other msmst the same. Personal preference, I used cream of celery instead of cream of chicken, and greek yogurt. I had a lot of predictive dreams when I was a teenager and in my 20s, and I also had very strong premonitions that came true. The strongest predictive dream I had was the day before I left for university, and this was a campus that I had never visited before - a recruiter from the university came to my high school, and that's how I filled out my application. Anyway, in my dream, I was walking toward the residential college, and I entered the building at a corner where there was a stairwell with stairs that went up half a flight and then down half a flight and then exited into a courtyard/quadrangle. In the dream, I thought that the half stairwell was very odd, and I had never seen anything like that, but the next day I entered the stairwell that I had seen in my dream and then exited into the exact courtyard that I had seen. This gave me an extreme déjà vu feeling, and I walked around for an hours as if I were in a trance. I sort of felt like I was hypnotized. Predictive dreams are supposedly quite common and up to 50% of people have them at some time in their lifetimes. I think they are most common earlier in life - at least for me. I used to go to UFO Expo West at the Airport Hilton at LAX in the 1990s, and at one of them I saw and met Al Bielek (of The Philadelphia Experiment fame), who talked about time travel, multiple dimensions, parallel universes, etc, and he said that time travel can happen when one enters a vortex, such as the one in October 1943, which opens up every 20 or 40 years (I forget which), and then one can travel through a wormhole to a different time or a distant planet. He also said that the past continues to exist, but it changes, and if you travel to the past, you go to the past as it is now - not as it was before, and if you travel to the future, then you travel to a probable future, as the future is always changing. One explanation for predictive dreams is that while dreaming, one can visit a probable future and see future events. The closer one is to that future, the more accurate it will be, but if you travel to a distant future, it will still be changing to much that it will be less accurate. Michio Kaku has written about multiple dimensions, wormholes, and parallel universes some of his books, notably the book Hyperspace, in which he says that Einstein's unified field theory predicts that there are 10 or 11 dimensions but that we are not able to perceive them most of the time. Perhaps we can get glimpses while dreaming.

I always knew she looked like me but was embarrassed to say it because I don't think I was that pretty growing up & it would be like saying, yeah, she's pretty like me! lol Her other grandmother put a side by side picture of both of us on FB yesterday and I was amazed. She even has the same arch I do on the left eyebrow. William Marshal. I found my dream man. hee. I accidentally discovered him when I began reading about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquataine, another great love story with a tragic ending. They fell in love when Eleanor was married to the French king & had kids with him. She left the King of France then married Henry. Huge love story. William was one of the knights escorting Eleanor somewhere in France, and they were ambushed by the French who were after Eleanor. It was William who got in front of her and fought, while she took off. He suffered a bad leg wound, and they took him hostage. Eleanor didn't even know him but she was the one who paid his ransom, then hired him to teach the future Henry the Young, Richard I, and King John about jousts, using a sword, and being a good soldier. Henry II hired him & when he died, Young Henry hired him, then Richard hired him, John hired him, and John's son, Henry III hired him. He was loyal to a fault and although King John was a horrible horrible man, except to his children, William kept his word of loyalty and stayed. Richard chose Isabel de Clare for William to marry. William had no money but Isabel....you gotta look it up, I could talk all day long. Romance galore but not the trashy kind, great history that's well documented William was invested into the Knights Templar on his deathbed and he's buried with an effigy In Temple Church, London.

Yup, love my salted caesars. I was in the Houston airport in April and asked the bartender for one, told me he only had bloody mary's and then said, you must be from Canada. Very popular drink here, it was invented by a bartender in Calgary Alberta. Some bars here now put a hot bean and olive instead of the celery stick.

Sounds delish!! When I bar tended at a supper club, we didn't have any celery in the kitchen for the Bloody Marys, so I put in dill pickle spears. The patrons liked it so much, that I did that all the time. Sure wouldn't mind a Bloody Caesar or Mary this morning. Getting in a bad mood.

DH has been using Clamato juice in his bloody Mary's for too many years to remember. Didn't know it had a special name to it.

Will always associate my first bloody caesar, in Vancouver, with poutine.

Friend ordered it for our traveling group.

I will copy this and try it. It sounds great with the celery salt around the rim.

I'm with georgymom. We make our bloody mary's that way all the time. I didn't know it had a different name. Also, we put all kinds stuff in it, pickles, celery and beef sticks to name a few. That's why we have these for breakfast when vacationing.

I love 'em! We just call them Caesars here. I like mine spicy, with a good rim on it! When I was younger (much younger) we'd have them for breakfast after a night out over the river in the USA. Yes, we'd cross the border to drink because we were legal there! But we had to come home for our Caesars.

Love Caesars, the more spicy they are the better. I like mine with extra lemon wedge and a dill pickle spear. We serve them in mason jar glasses. You can buy Caesars bottled too but I love the Caesars my brother Ray makes.

Windsor bars tend to serve them with dill pickle spears. Celery is used for Bloody Mary's LOL

I've had them. I prefer Bloody Marys, just not a huge clamato fan.

I love my bloodys with a lemon slice, lots of green olives, celery, and I like dill pickles too...but nobody serves them with pickles that I know of (only do that when making them myself).

One tavern here serves them with a pickled green bean, pickled asparagus spear, one pepperoncini, celery spear, small lemon wedge and one nice big shrimp on the side. That's more than I eat for lunch! LOL
