electric razors....any recommendations??

Hi everyone,

We're tired of spending so much on disposable razors for hubby, so thought we would look into an electric one.

Anyone have a good one that they could recommend?

I bought DH a Panasonic ES7056 Wet/dry electric shaver about 2 years ago. He really likes it. I got it on ebay, they seem to be hard to find. He also uses the cheap disposable you can buy at the Dollar tree, 10 for $1.00 he says they are better then his usual razor and much cheaper then buying blades for it. Personna comfort coated twin blades.

My DH has used a Norelco for years and years....He has sensitive skin and with this one, has never had a problem....It's the one that has the 3 little round thingies that do the shaving...

Jojoco, we have the double heated mattress pad up at the lake. Because it is a smaller bed and I am relatively tall, I can feel where the cord connects at the top of the base of the bed with my feet and it sometimes wakes me up. I don't think this would be an issue in a queen or king bed. Also, I did quite a bit of reading about the safety of blankets and heated pads (we have already had one major house fire and I am now quite wary). I can't remember specifics, but I think the F2 codes are common because of built in safety features that, shut down electrical supply when problems are detected. Unfortunately, I think these cause the wiring to be more sensitive and lower the overall life of the products. However, the trade off (better safety) is, IMHO, worth it.

"...large burner in the rear" The largest burner is always at the front. The Amana AER6603SFS has 9" at the front left and 8" at the right rear. The Bosch HII8056U has it's 11" burner at the center rear but it's induction.

@darbuka, Since I have a Miele vacuum, my mind wasn't thinking of kitchen appliances!! :). That sounds great about the fast heating of the wall oven. I currently have a Wolf dual fuel that I purchased back in 2005. I love the gas burners which they make in LP specific without the need for a converter. While the oven bakes/roasts wonderfully, it takes a long time to heat up in addition to another anomaly when you need to raise the temperature which I find totally unreasonable. I still plan to get the Wolfe gas range top. I checked out Miele's kitchen appliances and see they offer microwaves too, which is what I want vice a steam oven. I will need to determine the vent necessary for over the Wolfe range top. One question on your Miele wall oven. If you have it set at a certain temperature, then need to raise it for another item, can you just set the new higher temperature and it will come up to the higher temperature with no issues?

Recommendations for electric programmable thermostat?

The Honeywell Home RTH8560D (aka Honeywell T5) programmable thermostat is recommended by CR. I have the similar but more sophisticated Honeywell TH6320WF2003 (aka Honeywell T6 Pro) which I recommend. Yes, it's a wi-fi model but I've found that feature very useful. When I'm away I'll typically lower temperature significantly in the winter, or raise the temperature (or shut off the heat pump) when I'm away in the summer. When I'm ready to return, I'll reset the temperature back to the normal setting. This summer I was away for 24 days and I was able to shut off the heat pump for nearly the entire time. My heat pump raises or lowers the temperature very slowly so I need to set the temperature to normal a couple days before I return.

When I was looking for one, (never did buy one) I was amazed at the price of the new blades! holycow! the razors themselves were relatively cheap, but some of the new blades were astoundingly high! DH and DS have tried a couple over the years, (from Santa) but they always go back to the good old fashioned schick, gillete "manuals" lol

I switched to an electric razor about three years ago after using blades for years. I bought the Norelco Speed XL, which sounds like the one that irishdancersgram mentioned above. The razor has performed very well for me by giving a close shave with no nicks or cuts. I don't know how much money you would save though because you do need to buy new shaving heads (the rotory blades) every year to year and a half and they cost about $30.
