Why I love KT

I was just reading the over 55 development thread. Now this is why I love the kitchen table. I got a lot of information about something that may come in handy in the future, and because of what I read I decided that living in an over 55 development was probably something that was not for me. I really liked hearing of the things to consider, many of which I had no clue.

I loved Carol's story about the Mexican gentleman. I love the recipes. And there is so much more I like. Just putting in my two cents worth, not mentioning what I don't like but glad it seems to be over.

I love it here, too. So many wonderful people with so much to share. If you need something, just ask. I love the pictures from Susan, the wit from Glenda and Dotmom, Marilyn Sue's goodies. We show our grandkids, pets, share our vacations and on and on..We laugh and cry with each other. All of this is what makes this place special..

Being over 70, and having moved to a new town a few years ago, it is hard to make new close friends. My late daughter-in-law registered and paid for my membership here. The site has been so valuable to me when I have lost more than a few loved ones. I don't think there has been a day that I haven't at least logged on and read (what I call) the mail at the KT. I don't always post, but do read them everyday.

Question of the Day and other regular items (but I find that I'm not strongly attracted to, "I'll show you mine ...") - possibly partly because I'm on dial-up, too. I, too, am nosey and interested in a variety of subjects. I aso like to check topics of interest, and some where people are looking for ideas, advice, support, empathy, etc. I like to check what a number of my favourite people are talking about. I too find that a number of situations that I might have made a quick decision to reject turn out to be interesting, informative, to give me a good laugh, or some other things that make me click on some that I might be inclined to bypass, as I'm afraid that I may miss something interesting. I've felt that I have a tendency to be a thread killer, for I find that my post often seems to be the final one. I like to go back till I find subjects outlined in pink, indicating that I've looked at them before ... and no new posts since, to change them to blue. I also like to go back quite a few pages, on occasion. I sometimes feel that a topic there deserves a review. I thank many of you for your intelligence, concern for people and animals, plus people in other places, circumstances, etc., for the fun that you bring to the forum, and for sharing of yourselves here. And I appreciate that for many of you, we can have a disagreement at times without being disagreeable ... and often find that there are a number of aspects of a given situation where we do have quite a bit of agreement. Good wishes for one of the greatest New Years that you've ever seen! And some of us have seen quite a few. ole joyful P.S. Sometimes I make smart-ass comments, or play with peoples' names, etc. but it's meant in fun. If I have hurt anyone's feelings or angered them/you, I hope that you'll let me know, for I would like to get the issue straightened out ... I feel that we need to build relationships and understanding, not further alienation than there is in the world already. o j

hi finally have a chance to sit!!!!whew! i come to kt for all the stuff mentioned above and then some! you are all a fountain of info! i love your pictures of homes, families, gardens, pets, etc. i find it very interesting to read about peoples lives in places ill only see through your eyes so to speak. i dont get to come on as much in summer as i do winter...tonight i took the night off for a little while anyways lol. cant believe how much i missed and im not even off the first page yet! i love the KT because everyone here is so extra special to one another. thats rare in todays world. i can come here feeling blue and leave feeling happy as a pig in poop lol. i also like it because ill remember i need to find something out and all of a sudden...bam someone here is looking for the same thing. i just think your all a great bunch of folks! have a nice night everyone! ive reaally enjoyed reading this post. (sorry so long winded)

I've learned so much from various GardenWeb forums. They offer daily proof to the truth in James Surowiecki's book "The Wisdom of Crowds".

On KT, the 'crowd' is a little different and discussions are often about less specific questions or events than the "Household Financial" forum or the "Buying and Selling a House" forum. KT is often more chatty about day-to-day living and a resource for 'homely' things. I value the spectrum of advice from a 'been there, done that' KT 'crowd'.

I'm over 70 too, live alone but not lonely. However each
day after checking email, I wonder what the "ladies are
up to today". It's food for thought and broadens my
interests. THANK YOU.

I try not to pay a lot of attention to what I don't like. Life is too short. What I like is that I have made quite a few friends here. I have a lot of you on my FB and I love following everyone. Stacie and her kids, both Susan's, Jodi who lives where I grew up, ect.

But coming here each day I find new things. I love watching all these kids grow up and I have learned a few new plants too! Not to mention the food. Good grief, I never have to buy a cookbook again. I feel welcomed and liked. I have been sitting at the table for over 8 years now.

There is always something new to learn when I come to this site. I have admiration for Glenda's dedication to water exercises and Moni for her cross-country biking; Marilyn_C's love and care for animals, the wonderful photography; the helpful household hints recently posted.

I really miss Cherryfizz's posts - she has a way of expressing herself that draws me into her world of everyday occurrences. Anybody remember her ongoing battle with the flooded basement?

The occasional disagreements help me to see both sides and give me a window onto the world and helps me broaden my way of thinking - so thank you.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I like the fact that the KT is so fast-moving (unlike some of the forums). Post a question here and you'll get immediate replies, many of which are very helpful! I've learned a lot here. I simply don't post on threads that take a negative tone.

This is a place that is like a whole bunch of sisters (brothers too). Get advice and give advice. Take it or leave it. Free hugs when needed.

Like Marita, you get and we give fast results on a question.
When I first thought about joining, I posted a couple questions and got answers right away. My first thought, Wow what a bunch of nice people!!

I immediately joined and my first thought hasn't changed.
If the KT were to disappear, I'd be lost, honestly.
I'd really miss everyone. And, if you all decide to leave.....Please take me with you!!!!

Ditto to all of the above. I can always come here when I need honest answers to a question, among many other reasons. I'd be lost too, if you all left!

I mostly lurk but I do enjoy it here .Some of the other groups I belong to (besides my mosaic groups) they are like a lot of friend in life .They have there on fav.I am lonely person >My friend for a very long time has moved away and I miss her so much .So for me it helps to be where there is not to many demands of life .

Ditto what everyone else has said.I find this board so refreshing compared to some others i visit(not on GW).I always go to the "I'll show you mine "posts first,love those.Sometimes even post on them.

Like all the good thoughts and prayers we all send out to each other when we are going thru lifes trials and woes.

Sometimes you folks make me LOL and dh thinks i've lost it !!!
