'My Favorite Things' comment thread

I thought some of us might like to comment on some of the pictures posted in Casey's thread without messing up the flow (however convoluted!) of the photos.

I'll start by saying that Taigen's mitten picture couldn't be more perfect to go with the song!

Oh gosh - I'm sorry - I didn't see this post and I already messed up Casey's thread with my comments. And my post was about taigen's mittens too.

I received my box from Faye today and wow! what a large box she sent stuffed full of goodies! I love everything she sent which included a beautiful tin "welcome" sign with flowers and a dragonfly, a darling patriotic cottage style windchime, a large pack of seed bags,plant ties,post it notes, sharpie markers, glitter glue, garden gloves, hand lotion, an "Outdoor Favorites Recipe Book" which my husband confiscated already, a great variety of wonderful candy and bouncing balls for the grandkids (they're gonna love them), and a bunch of different garden seeds which I can't wait to plant. And last but not least, the cutest card with an adorable puppy and kitty on the front with a surprise amazon MP3 gift card inside so I can purchase download my own favorite music! Perfect! I adore everything, but my favorite is the patriotic cottage style windchime! It matches my house style just right and how cute! You sent too much Faye. Everything is greatly appreciated. I would have chosen the same things if I were buying it for myself! You are such a great gardening friend! So thoughtful! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sue N.

Kim, thanks for thinking of me in that way. The majority sent in 2- 37 cent stamps so I am sure they will be covered. I have sent out seeds before with the same number of packs inside and they all arrived with no problem. I am sure the postage will cover it. I am not sure how this works but I have heard people say that they received seeds with postage due on them. I figured this meant that the mailer didn't put enough postage so they got their seeds but owned some money for the difference. Does this mean that if someone owes a few cents it will arrive regardless? I will be putting them in a mailbox since they will already have the postage, rather than taking them to the PO. I truly think we are fine with postage. The envelopes aren't really all that heavy. Thanks Dawn

What an uplifting thread! Things that recently brought me joy: Finding a Vizsla puppy on Sunday and watching him chase my 100 lb black lab around the house all afternoon until his owner retrieved him from us. Listening to the funny comments my kids were making as they put their many years of ornaments on the Christmas tree. Making dinner last night and my younger two kids asking if they could help me make the marinade and chop the vegetables. Seeing my 72 y/o mother asleep on my couch Saturday night with a book propped up on her lap...a familiar sight from my youth. Her love of reading inspired my own. Walking through the mall and seeing all the little ones dressed up in Christmas clothes on their way to see Santa. Mine have outgrown that. Watching my 10 y/o finish a local 5K race, 20th place overall out of over 200+ runners (first place in his age group), and seeing his sprint to the finish, passing a man at the last minute who had been running ahead of us for the last mile. While he's a good athlete on team sports, he struggles mightily in school due to a learning disability and as a result, suffers from low self esteem. He has recently found a love of running, something that he's really good at as an individual, which is great for his self-esteem. This note, that my 8 y/o left for our "elf on the shelf" - this was the first one which she left for him two weeks ago. She wrote another the other night which had dh laughing so hard he couldn't even read it aloud to me. I'm surprised at how many peeps have such fitting photos!! I love the bee shot Alisande!!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes I really didn't think anyone whould have a picture for this. Jenni has surprised me again!! How cute! Is that from Steph's wedding?

There are truly some absolutely perfect pictures on the song thread. Amazing what pics people have that could make up the words to a song and especially that song. LOL Great fun!

I see my mom hasn't been to this note so I'll answer...yes, that photo was from my wedding. It's one of my favorite!

WOW, this was one of my favorite theads since joining KT...just wish I knew how to post pics, even if I had to cheat and copy from an online site...the copper kettles were beautiful!

I had so much fun with Casey's idea, I'm really looking forward to another one. I was really surprised at how the photos all fit so well with the song. Glad you all like the mittens photo....I had made them all for some special (goofy)friends at Christmas.Each either had a meaning (i.e. taxi mittens, pond/goldfish mittens) or try to fit the personalities. They thought it was a hoot!!
Girls in white dresses got me too!! As did silver white winters melt into spring....beautiful pictures!!

I love that thread and hope she does it often. I didn't have anything to work with those lyrics but maybe next time. That was really fun.

Yep - loved all the photos. Hope I can sneak some of mine in sometime. I have LOADS of weathered, rusty things!
