How many shoes is enough?

One of my friends stopped by today and told me that after nearly 20yrs of marriage he and his wife are having serious marrital problems.

He is an Electrician making approximately $60k/yr and she does not work.

He told me that he had applied for a small loan to buy some tools for work and was informed by the bank that he had 3 credit cards that he was totally unaware of, all of which were secretly obtained by his wife. Each of those cards has a max credit limit of $5k and they are all three currently maxed out.

He said he had not noticed any significant items brought into the home and he could not imagine what she had used that money for so he obtained a full accounting from the credit card companies.

To his total amazement, all the purchases made on those three cards was for shoes.... That's right folks, $15k worth of shoes purchased in less than 6 months. He said he then got curios and looked in her closet and found dozens of boxes of new shoes, still in the store box and still have the tags on them. He found even more tucked under the bed and to add insult to injury, while he was at my house his wife called his cell phone to inform him that she was at the mall shopping with a girlfriend because she needs a new pair of shoes?

He says that makes no sense. They live a very modest lifestyle going out to dinner three or four times a month, perhaps going out dancing two or three times a month and the occassional dinner banquet for his job or a couple civic organizations they belong to. He says the question then becomes, Lady, you only have two feet, how damn many shoes do you need?
