You're probably thinking of Made in the Shade. Now Q&Z is gone, they're one of the biggest TC nurseries. TC can be a good thing, BTW. Done right, the plants are checked so they're disease free before culturing - no chance of spreading HVX or anything else. I put in a tiny Humpback Whale last year and it is already the size of a mature medium hosta. It's in a new and heavily amended bed, but still, that's impressive growth. If life ever calms down, I'll get a photo of it posted.

The first time I accidentally came across SATC I was shocked, and embarrassed to be watching it with me in the room! Didn't finish the episode. One of the racier ones I guess. It was on free-to-air tv in Australia so I don't know how much it may have been edited. I've occasionally seen other episodes and thought the show might have been interesting. I made a point of watching the final episode. I can understand people following the show all the way through but it was on at a time in my life when I needed to be an expert channel changer so I just didn't tend to watch anything with that sort of potential. What has bothered me more is some of the stuff on SBS and ABC which has suddenly shown up in inappropriate timeslots. At least I had some idea SATC had a bit of a reputation, and it was in a better timeslot. (I've been told ABC and SBS don't have to abide by the same standards as the commercial stations.) I like Sweeby's comments. Popi, maybe your daughter was hoping for a conversation afterwards. I'm frequently shocked by the way increasingly young girls dress. But I don't have a teenage daughter so I really don't know what it's like for the parents to find the right path to tread on such issues. I suspect tv doesn't help, especially if the parents don't give some guidance as to what is appropriate viewing. I especially don't like it when parents put tv's in each child's bedroom.

Glad this is taking a better turn. I refrained from comment intially because I am both an adopter and a volunteer with rescue groups. Yep, we all have serious jobs and lives and fit this fostering and home visiting stuff into our evenings and week-ends. I don't think three weeks is excessive considering that in that time the application was reviewed, your references were likely checked, a home visit appt was scheduled and completed, and the application was approved. Two weeks would be ideal given that most of the visits happen on week-ends, but during busy times when volunteers are on vacation, three weeks doesn't sound like 'forever.' "It seems that in their eagerness to remind me that rescue dogs come with ''baggage'' and that I may want to adopt from a breeder if I'm concerned about health issues, they are less concerned about finding good homes for the dogs than their own agenda." I suspect that their 'agenda' is a permanent placement for the dog. Although you say that you would work with any dog with problems, your requests do raise red flags that would trigger any responsible volunteer to have the 'dogs change, dogs have issues' discussion with you or any applicant. It isn't 'personal'. What you probably ran into were experienced volunteers testing a bit (given your requests) to make sure that the dog wouldn't bounce again. Obviously, they found you sincere and a good potential home, so please forgive them for treating you like any other applicant. Many applicants are not experienced and many really do have unrealistic expectations that no dog can meet and see nothing wrong with returning animals if they don't magically and perfectly fit into the household. What strikes me oddly here is that they don't have photos of the dogs on a website. Maybe you could 'give back' (whether you do or do not adopt the pup you're interested in) by volunteering with the group and taking photos of the dogs for display on the groups website. By doing that you'd be helping many other dogs and many other applicants. Good luck, and do deep us posted.

How cool. What a great,heartwarming video.

The humpbacks are in our area now. I've been keeping my eye on conditions so I can go whale watching again soon. The humpbacks are the friendliest. They often come right up to the boat and show off. I've been on trips where they actually played with the boat, rocking and bumping against it. Amazing animals.

I knew of the outcome because of all the comments here but I still sweat while watching it. For one tired whale being caught for hours, she sure put on a joyful show! So glad this crew was there to free this whale.

I'm crying! I'm so heart-broken thinking of her horrible fate and the condition she was in, when the boaters came upon her.

I watched GMA this morning. They showed this video and interviewed the hero. Although, it wasn't as good as watching the whole happening on the link you've provided.
