I think it's one thing to tell us about an organization you found and to gush about how wonderful it is.

It's another thing to suggest we support it.

As an owner of nine dogs, six of whom are rescues, I already support three special organizations with both time and money.

That looks like a wonderful organization, and your post is not spam in my opinion.

When I visit shelters, I always feel so sorry for the old dogs there. I know no one will adopt them but think someone must have loved them to care for them long enough to get to old age. It's sad.

Sorry you interpreted my post as asking you to support anything. I don't believe I asked you to do anything of the sort. I was just bringing awareness to an organization that I, as a pet lover, happen to like. There are other "dog" people on this forum so I thought I'd share with them. Good for you for adopting rescue dogs and supporting three special organizations with both time and money - I'm thrilled when people think of animals and their welfare.

I can never understand why people feel the need to be snide to other people. If you don't like what someone posts, don't respond. I guess the anonymity of a computer and the internet gives people courage to say things they may not say in person.

What a wonderful thing. I am very supportive of animal organizations (time and money)and had never heard of this one and may send some amount their way. I also have a friend who has adopted senior pets and I will send the link to her. I didn't interpret your email (or your subject) to be suggesting we support it. If I do, it'll be because I want to. I thank you for telling us about it.

Thank you for telling me about it. We have adopted older dogs and puppies in our family. I always have a soft spot for the older dogs and let me tell you, both times I have been "allowed" to go to the shelter I brought home older dogs. DH won't let me go- he is afraid I will bring them all home!

I will certainly be looking into this more.

You're right, sephia ... I was snippy. I'm not familiar with you, and had been on another forum on this site that was just full of "check out this link" and it was all crap. So I didn't believe you were for real. That's doesn't excuse my tone, and I apologize for that.

Not a problem, stoneybaloney. You can usually find me on the Pets forum - which I enjoy but people frequently get blasted there for the "check out this link" threads. I was hesitant to post this info here because I was afraid how people might take it. It's really not about this particular organization - it's more to bring awareness to the sad plight of senior dogs. They get dropped off in shelters, left abandoned, etc. I was just feeling like trying to inspire people to not forget about the experienced, wise, old dogs.

I have seen the pics of your Tundra dogs - they are very beautiful - I'd never heard about this kind of dog before seeing your pics.

Thank you, sephia. I appreciate your kindness. I haven't visited or posted to the pets forum for quite some time. When I left, the membership was evolving and becoming fairly unpleasant.

I'm afraid our tundras are a dying breed that never really caught on. The 'leadership' split into two separate groups and they would never come together and promote the dogs and forget their differences. Which is very sad, because I honestly just love the breed.

Its been breaking my heart hearing of tons of older animals dogs and cats are dumped just because they are elderly and then they rush out and get a puppy or kitty.

What would be nice if so many seniors love their pets and they hate it when they are getting older as they know they can't take in puppies as too much work for them plus to handle.

Cost wise for them too its very tough.

If they could hook up seniors plus pay the costs they would get loving homes those elderly pets.

There should be more put out like this information.

There are tons of things that are needed for pets.

The lady that takes in pets, she quit her job and looks after the really ill dogs. Amazing what she is doing. Those pets have a permanent home for the rest of their life. And very good care too.

We need so many more people to take in pets into their homes or open up places that will love and care for them.

Thanks folks, for understanding the intent of my post. I just feel so sorry for those old senior dogs - it breaks my heart that someone, who may have raised their dog from puppy-hood, could abandon or give up on their faithful pet at a time when the dog needs them most.

The woman who founded this organization was a very well paid executive at Microsoft. She quit to take on creating this organization - I admire her for the priorities she has made.
