My daughter's friend had a mouse living in her car a couple years ago... not in the glovebox, but in the back seat! If you would've seen her dirty car, you'd see why. The mouse had plenty to eat! lol

We had a mouse nest in our washing machine back when we first got married. The mice had also stuffed the water inlet full with dry dog food. I think that was the first time the repairman had seen that!

I usually garage one of my cars for the winter, and encountered a mouse nest in the glove compartment one spring. No babies, though, thank heavens. I learned to be vigilant about making certain I left no food behind. Mice will even chew through heavy plastic containers.

My daughter had a skunk try to make a nest in her car. It had collected pine needles to put at the windshield, but I can remember if it was under the hood or on the hood. It took some special cleaning and lots of time to get rid of the smell.

Woody had a mouse or rat nest in the air filter box under his 4Runner hood. That thing had stashed about 3 pounds of food and fluff and stuff in there, too. The car guy servicing it was amazed that the 4Runner still ran.

Wow! That is impressive. Never heard of mice living in a car. I had a friend who had roaches living in her car- had to get the exterminator out to treat the car when he treated the house.

I did have some beans (the kids dropped them, o.k.?) sprout in my floor mats, though. Humid climate, beans fell, school papers fell, car got infrequent cleaning...it can happen!

A few years ago, a mechanic servicing my car ran across a mouse nest in the engine compartment! My spark plug wires were practically eaten through - had to get new ones!

A mouse can get into any car or vehicle.......If you live where there are mice, they will eventually find a haven inside your house, car, garage etc etc..

I haven't had them in my car, but we went to Hawaii for 6 weeks on winter, and came home to find a party pad. A mouse had made itself a cozy place, in the insulation of our dishwasher. I kept hearing something, so DH pulled it out. It had taken dog food, sunflower seeds, rubber bands etc. in there. I always had balloons for the grandkids, and it had taken several of them, in to its nest. We never saw it until we caught it. Good old peanut butter!

When we lived in Central Ca. valley, our home was the last house on the edge of town, with empty fields across the street. We only parked our RV in the street while getting ready to leave....so near Christmas (winter, you know), we were heading to So. Oregon with often closed mountain passes between the two states. We left early a.m. heading to Redding (300 miles) for the night. Crawled into my bed and shortly noticed little mouse turds under, sort of, my pillow. You can be sure I didn't get much sleep that night and we searched and did not find our travel companion. After that event, we put steel wool around all openings so they could not get in.BTW, it was too cold to sit on the kitchen table all night!

I've never had mice living in a car, but my ex-husband has a 1971 Boss 351 Mustang (collector's item - early '70s muscle car) which is his pride and joy. One year, while stored in a rather primitive garage for the winter, mice got inside the panels and chewed holes in the head liner!

We do tend to get mice in the campers every winter.... looking for shelter, I imagine. We put mothballs in the campers to keep them out. I hate the smell, but I hate mice inside worse. They seem to me to be such dirty animals. Maybe it's the 'mouse tracks' that they leave, but I feel like at any sign of a mouse everything has to be sanitized!

It is not common, but not rare for mice and chipmunks to build nests in the engine air inlets of cars left standing for a period of time. If the car is in a sheltered place, it becomes more desireable for these animals.

If a car has been stored over winter, the first thing a car buff does is to check the air filter box before starting the engine.

There has been reports of barn cats in winter crawling on top of a warm engines after it was shut off. If the engine was restarted with the cat still under the hood, the consequences were not always good.

I had a squirel make a nest in my hood.My brother"s car wires were ruined by the same.Don't park your car in the same place and put moothballs inside.it cost him $3000 to replace wires in his BMW.

The first year my DH went to camp his mother sent along a week's supply of underwear. When his parents came to visit a month later she checked to see if he needed more clothes. There was a mouse family living in the *untouched* cashe of underwear. (BOYS!)

When we took a trip aroung Lake Michigan with our DS one year, we stopped at the camp and found the cabin DH had lived in when he was nine. DS (then four) was terribly disappointed not to be able to see 'the mouses in Dad's unnerwear'.

My parents had an ant colony take up housekeeping in their floorboard. They kept noticing they were getting bites but could not figure out why. Bet there were some confused ants that got deposited all over Metro Atlanta. They had a terrible time getting rid of them because apparently the ants could find the car no matter where it was parked.
