How I spent Monday...(lots of pictures)...

3 of my four sisters and me took my mom down for her check up in Minneapolis yesterday. My son said it was a great chance for him to return our utility trailer that he had borrowed, since it would save him a 180 miles round-trip bringing it back. My step-daughter said it would be a good chance for her and Olivia to meet me, so she could save the round trip of a visit.

It turned into a poor-man's camping trip, at the Perkins Parking Lot State Park, on University Ave.
First, we went inside and ate. We were joined by Andrea and Liv.

As well as Mike and Eli.

And here are the original trip members:
Mom, Rose.

Sandy, Linda (Sandy tried to kiss Linda, who resisted).

After we got done eating, the real fun began. Mike went out to swap the trailer from his car to mine. Oh, oh, ball was wrong size. Ok, right ball is in trunk. Oh, oh, can't get incorrect ball off. Surely Kenny (my DH) has tools in trunk. WRONG. Mike finally drives off to buy some tools.
The rest of us decided it would be a real shame to not enjoy the beautiful 92 degree weather, and the sun bouncing off the scenic asphalt parking lot. But we need a little shade. Andrea to the rescue! She pulls her vehicle next to mine, and takes out a spanking-new tarp. She really is her father's daughter, they both adore tarps! She manages to get it on top of both vehicles and finds objects to weigh it down. Luckily, I DO have two lawn chairs in the trunk. Now we can really get into enjoying the balmy weather, and no one will get sun-burned!
Olivia decided it was better in the car (and besides, there weren't any lawn chairs left.)

Sorry for the blue cast, but you understand the tarp was my favorite color.
Sandy wanted to make sure she had some great vacation photos!

And of course, the tent owner, who was so kind.

One man by himself and two men together came over and asked if we were broke down. I guess they didn't recognize urban campers when they saw them!
Alas, Mike and Eli came back with tools and WD-40, and between Mike, Rose and Andrea, managed to get the ball off the hitch and the correct one on.
Sadly, our camping trip was over and we had to pack up the tent and start the cars up, and instead of nice fresh air run that nasty a/c.
But who knows about the future. In January, Mom goes back to Abbott. Maybe Linda and Rose will get to have a great winter adventure!
