Poison fluoride - anyone know how to filter it out?

I'm becoming more convinced that fluoride is a contaminant in our water supply that is probably poisoning lots of people. It is a toxin. Look at a toothpaste tube. If you ingest more than a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, you're urged to call poison control.

My question is, does anyone know where I can order a kitchen sink filter for filtering out fluoride?

Brita, Pur, all the big names do NOT filter our fluoride. Fluoride is a nasty chemical and is actually toxic waste that industry figured out how to sell to us unsuspecting souls. Fluoride also does damage to thyroids and kidneys.

Thanks in advance for any help on finding a good filter.

You'd have to eat a tube of toothpaste a day to cause any harm. Like many things, flouride is harmful if you ingest a huge quantity. Unnecessary concern. Vehicle fumes will get you first.

Rose, I'm not sure than any sink mount will do it..You might have to go to something a bit larger..maybe a reverse osmosis? I'm not sure about that either..But I bet you could google that and see what it says.
We live on well water in our community neighborhood of 80 houses..and I am thrilled that it's not mandated to have floride added to our county well water..but just a street over they are City, and are on the city florinated water.

I've never given my kids floride tabs even though a prescription was always written when the pediatricians realized we were on well water.

I always used tap water (hard water) for about two or three years on all of mine when they were growing in just water, then I moved them to soil and they still get tap water with no ill effects on the leaves. I have read where if they are in water for a long time, they CAN end up getting root rot for some people. It's a little hard to tell if yours is in soil or water, but make sure if it's in soil, that it's not drying out all the way, or staying soggy wet causing root rot. Keep the soil a little on the moist side at all times (I usually water once a week) and also make sure the plant is not getting a lot of direct sun. Mine get a little bit of direct sun, mostly though, bright indirect and some dapple sun. They are planted in with syngoniums which also like moist soil. They get a little diluted "reg" fertilizer each week and all the ends of Dracaena sanderiana (lucky bamboo) are perfectly fine, nice and green and have been for years:) Billy Rae

He's what it presently looks like. The first two pictures are an overview of the whole thing. These two show one of the lids partially removed. I don't know if you can tell or not, but the sand is about a foot under the water, and the water is nice and clear. The "box" of the filter has held water steadily for the 7 years that we've lived here. I kinda thought that it would eventually drain out or evaporate, but the water level has remained the same. This a close up of one of the corners to show that the top lid can be removed. it's just going to take a lot of umph!

Although I am not sure about the fluoride quantities in drinking water alone, I am sure that some of our children are getting too much fluoride in combined sources. Having our city water fluoridated back in the 1960's, did do wonders for the health of our teeth, ie: the difference between mine and my older siblings teeth compared to our younger siblings(who grew up with fluoridated water), show marked improvement. But now our children are being exposed to larger quantities of fluoride. Besides the drinking water, the dentist regularly applies fluoride treatments and the grade schools are now providing fluoride treatments as well. There is fluoride in toothpaste and what else I don't know. Many children, including my son are developing white spots on their previously beautiful, healthy teeth. There are still some who are not in agreement with this as a side effect of too much fluoride. When my son started developing bright white spots on his teeth, I questioned our dentist, who at first had no answers, but did tell me he was seeing it more and more. As time went by, more of his teeth became affected and the spots became more pronounced. You may not think white spots on teeth are such a bad thing, but this looks unnatural and makes the rest of the teeth, even if they are very white, look yellowed, it is also a chalky white, not the glistening white a tooth should be. after repeat visits and repeated questioning from me on what we could do about it, he finally told me that some people believe it is too much fluoride! So I got online and started reading about it. I then requested no more fluoride treatments at school and at the dentist(who by the way, even though he was made aware of the possibility of fluoride overdosing, did not want to stop the treatments!). I noticed the spots were no longer getting worse and they started to lose their intensity within a few months. It has taken a few years, the spots are still there, but are faded and with time I hope they disappear completely, in the meantime my son, who previously smiled without abandon rarely smiles fully and is self conscious because the spots were so obvious, people would actually comment on them. the really scary thing is this whitening is actually changing the composition of the tooth enamel, breaking it down and according to the sources I was reading can lead to teeth that are weak and prone to decay and tooth loss. The spots are a visible side effect, there could very likely be other side effects of overdosing that are not so readily apparent. Be aware that fluoride overdosing especially by multiple sources is a real possibility and at least at this point in time you cannot rely on your dentist or the FDA to protect you or your children from it.

I couldn't find anything when I googled that model number. If not RO, I suspect it is like the the Costco Model: 500380 I bought for my main sink, we like the water very much. I thought only RO took out fluoride, you may wish to call Watts and ask. I put a separate in-line filter (also from Costco) on the line to the ice maker, and a third, full flow, Filtrete filter Model # 3US-PS01 on the prep sink so I wouldn't need a dedicated faucet and extra granite hole there. I know that all sounds complicated, but I did explore the running of lines around my kitchen and decided that this was the best option and would do it that way again. I would not expect the plumber to have what is needed on hand, it is likely to be cheaper and more efficient for you to have extra supplies in advance and return unnecessary ones. I expected a plumber to have the necessary line to connect my range top to the propane outlet - and then spent over an hour in my car going to to get one on the other side of town while he (over) charged me for other work. We don't drink tap water but buy spring water in the 5 gallon jugs. DH agrees with you! Filtering,freezing and boiling will not remove it.
Research aluminum manufacture by product, or have you already?

When you have your teeth cleaned, UNLESS you request no fluoride, it will automatically be applied, and an EXTRA cost - imagine PAYING to be poisoned!

It has been linked to arthritis - it is NOT a good thing, and seems to be in LOTS of liquids we consume.

Nodakgal, yes, that's how I learned about this toxic mess they're dumping into our drinking water in the guise of "dental health." Yuck and double yuck.

I called a couple bottled water companies and learned that even their products contain small amounts of fluoride. I'd like to buy a filter but am having trouble finding a filter that removes the lion's share of fluoride. Apparently, it's a hard compound to eliminate from the water supply. How I wish the city wouldn't dump that mess into our water supply.

It *is* a case of being medicated without our consent.

I've removed high fructoce corn syrup from my diet and aspartame and artificial sweeteners and the only thing left to drink is occasional fruit juice and water.

BTW, scientists at EPA demand that the bottled water in their offices be fluoride free. What does that tell you?

fluoridating water is a local activity.

Don't forget to campaign in your community to have your water utility STOP adding it to water.

Years ago I read about some research (done by a university in the midwest, I think) in which lab animals were given fluoride in doses proportional to what humans are given. To the best of my recollection, the first two generations of animals (rats or mice, probably) seemed to be okay, but the third generation was sterile. In other words, it took two generations after the administration of the fluoride for the damage to show up. Scary.

When my kids were infants, my pediatrician recommended vitamins with fluoride. He said it was good for their teeth. I gave them non-fluoride vitamins. I hope I did the right thing. Both are adorable girls, they are 18 and 19.
