Steam Cleaning Mops,do you have one?

Do they work like they show on TV? I saw the infomercial for the H2O one.There are other brands though. If you have one,what brand is it? Do you like it? Are they worth getting? I'm thinking of getting one.Can you use them on furniture? I know...lots of questions! LOL!

I've never heard of them, but I know that using steam is a great way to clean. Well that's what I've heard people say. Sounds messy to me.

I had one similar to the one in the link.. is that what you are talking about? I absolutely hated it. You had to move it really slowly to clean the floor and even then it didn't do a very good job, I burned myself a couple times putting on the cotton cover... did I mention I hated it? I also had one of those garment steamers (a cheap one) and that was a pain too! The hose was too short to reach my curtains and I ended up spilling hot water all over the place. Took that back for a refund.

Now.. I would like one of those 'steam' clothes dryers that takes out the wrinkles! I'd probably hate that too! lol

I have rough slate floors...and I mean rough...there are highs and lows and dimples and voids (but they're beautiful.) ;~) Can those of you who use steam cleaners/mops tell me if they will work well on this type of floor? I have dogs, cats, and live in the country and garden...so I really need to CLEAN my floors, LOL. I just got a Hoover Floormate which works "okay" and I think is a better result than hand mopping but it's way to slow to use as often as I really need to mop.

Just saw this and am wondering if y'all got the Jacklo faucets and if you have pics to share? Sorry if you already shared them but I can never find pics/figure out how to properly use the search functions here. I still love mine. The only pain is the part where if the water's running and you want to remove the hose from the neck in order to spray down the sides of the sink for example, you have to quickly turn off the faucet to take it off lest you get sprayed, then turn it back on, or else you have to be cautious and deliberate in the act of removing it while the water's flowing. Not a deal-breaker but that's my only complaint. It makes quite a statement and one quick swipe with the sponge and it polishes up beautifully. The fact that it's not chrome OR nickel is HUGE because it looks much warmer than chrome but cleans much better than nickel. ;) How are you liking yours? Oh and here's a pic I took last night when we were making bread, that has the faucet in the background when it's very, very dirty (haven't wiped it down in ages, I'm embarrassed to admit)! Ok I'm just realizing it's not the clearest pic but I think it makes clear how it generally still looks great - especially considering how little I care for it (blush).

I've also been wanting to ask about this. I've been reading reviews all over the internet, and people seem to either love or hate every machine out there. It's very frustrating. I have shedding cats, and almost all hard flooring. The entry, kitchen, LR, DR, bathrooms, laundry room, and hallways are all stone-look tile, so the surface is uneven. I also have WHITE grout. Mopping this with a regular string mop just kills my wrists and shoulders, and some days, it just looks like dirty water settles into the low spots on the tile and grout, and I've "rearranged" the dirt, rather than cleaned it. That Bissell mop gets (almost all) great reviews, and you sure can't beat the price. Wonder how it works on uneven tile? The PO's installed this flooring, and when we bought the place, we just loved it. When it's freshly cleaned, it's just gorgeous, but keeping it that way has been a big chore. And white grout would have never been my choice for any flooring anywhere.

I've had my Samsung washer and dryer for 3 years now and have never used the steam feature on mine even once. If something needs to be sanitized, which is hardly ever, I'll just wash it in hot water. I use cold water to wash pretty much everything except my towels. There is a steam feature on my dryer, as well. I do use both the "Refresh" and "Wrinkle Care" occasionally. They're especially convenient to de-wrinkle my dinner napkins and sheets. I use the Refresh with a dryer sheet on the bedspreads, blankets and pillows in DD's room and our guest room when those items are clean, but may have taken on a bit of a musty smell due to the rooms not having been used in a while. Things that I don't like about this set: (1) My washer is my first front load washer and I hate it. I will never buy another one. (2) Both the washer and dryer play these annoying little tunes when they turn on and off. (3) The controls on both are on the front right of them, and are too easy to accidentally bump and turn on and off. (4) My washer is very prone to smelling moldy. The repair man that came out originally told me to just keep it's door open when not in use. Ah, no! with a small "hermit dog", who I know would try to climb into it, there is no way I'd take that chance with her!

I have the H2O mop and love it. The only thing that I don't like about it, it doesn't have an on and off switch, you have to unplug it if you have to stop for a minute. Today, I happen to be at Edmonton's Capital Ex, and they had a steam mop there and it had an on and off switch. The guy who was demoing it let the people try. Also stopped at the shamwow booth, people were buying those like crazy 6 sheets for $20. I didn't buy any of them.

Oh I do! I have the Haan Steamer from QVC. It is awesome! We have the Shark Steamer at our church and it doesn't do a very good job compared to the Haan. I highly recommend it! Check out their reviews.

I had a shark and it's okay, but a couple of months ago I was at Target and noticed they had a new Hoover Floor Mate.

I had one a few years ago and loved it. It is for hard surface floors. It puts a mist of water down, does a little bit of scrubbing and picks the water back up. When we had our house for sale and had someone want to look at it on short notice I could have my kitchen floor mopped and dried in just minutes.

When we moved here the kitchen floors aren't real smooth. There is quite a bit of texture to them. The Floor Mate didn't get down into the sunken parts of the texture to scrub or to pick up water. The one I bought a few weeks ago has a set of brushes on it that will clean the textured floor and a set of shorter brushes that snap on to clean the smooth laminate floors. It also has a wider cleaning path than the older one. I just finished cleaning the floors about an hour ago and they look so nice and clean. I'm so glad I found one that will work with the floors I have.

I love my Enviro Steamer (first link). Recently it died and I posted on Freecycle asking if anyone had one they didn't use because I don't see them in stores anymore. The same day, someone posted and gave me theirs! I was amazed.

I'm going to see if I can find the H2O one in a store,I think maybe Lowes or Target has them.I want to be sure it does the grout.I have a FloorMate and even with the grout brushes,it doesn't get the grout good.I want Larry to take off the front wheels,I think it would do better without them.

Wow! I just bought the H2O and so far I love it. Was very concerned when I looked up reviews AFTER the purchase and saw so many complaints about it, but I wonder if it could be user error causing their leaks (not putting the water container in properly)or expecting too much of the machine if there is calcium build-up on the floors/grout. It worked beautifully for me. The triangular design got right into the corners, it swivels easily and yes, it did a great job around the toilett (I have two boys, some of you will know what this means!) My floors had a damp sheen for a short time but were not excessively wet. Sticky kitchen spills came up immediately. I love the fact that it works continuously as you require steam with a touch to the lever and without having to hold or repeatedly press buttons like other models, but stops the steam as soon as you depress the lever again. The cloth cover is very decent grade and reasonably thick, I expect it to withstand repeated washing. The rug my dog has claimed came up great and I made sure that I did not leave the steam on any spot too long, so it was only lightly damp and not wet. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase. Use it properly and it works as claimed.
