Thanks Iris gal. The grass next to the pot is dwarf fountain grass "hamelin" If you are not familiar with that plant, it really is a nice grass that gets catapillar type seed heads in the fall. I have it all over the place in the garden and love it.

The Hydrangeas were store bought 3 years ago. and this is the first year I got it to bloom since I bought them. I did an experiement that the wind helped me with. I have 3 Hydrangeas so I had dh build me a little round cage out of cicken wire and then we placed over the Hydrangeas and then we covered them with the fallen leaves. Well in the middle of winter somehow one of the cages got blown off off one of the plants so I decided to leave it to see if the plant would still flower. Well needless to say it did not but the two that were covered has flower heads on them. So lesson learned. Yes the hibiscus were winter sown but now I am not sure which if any is pereinnal or annual. The salvia were store bought so who knows how they were treated. Thanks ladies. Paula

Oy vey my seasons are terribly off this year! After having a baby I didn't do too much gardening, aside from a ladder I covered with morning glories. I planted some bulbs that didn't do a whole lot but hopefully will next year. Kathi - Thank you so much! The foxgloves seem to do really well here. The original plants are about bloomed out and I don't expect them to return next year. They have reseeded all over though and this spring I think had about 11 babies that bloomed from that original three foxgloves I planted. They are all white though, but I adore foxgloves and welcome any color baby that decides to grow in my garden. :) pippi - So sorry for taking literally MONTHS to respond! I have a now six month old that I pretty much devoted the summer to. Now it's fall and my mind is turning to winter sowing and I'm hoping to find the time to garden more next year. I have a 9 year old who will have to babysit so Mom can get some gardening done. Here it gets a bit too cold to plant seeds in the fall for next spring, but I do summer sow and plant small plants that go dormant and return larger the following year. All of the foxgloves except for one that I have now were sale plants I purchased from Walmart for a couple bucks after they were done. They returned beautifully, though I doubt those original plants will come back next year. They did leave lots of babies and I'm thrilled with that! I agree the yellow yarrow is pretty aggressive, actually ALL of the yarrow I have is pretty hardy and aggressive but managable. I love it and have divided it and put it all around my house and barns. Memo - Thank you so much! I am working on it. The Dames Rocket grows as a weed out here and my Mom sort of laughed at me when I actually PAID for it and put it in my garden!!! LOL* It is gorgeous though and one of my favorite things. I did not return this spring, I'm sad to say! It was outdone by some overzealous daisies and rudbeckia that I will be thinning out next spring. The goosneck while pretty is a real nightmare and I'm planning on pulling out all of that next year too.

Lavender First I forgot to answer the snow question. We got six to 8 inches on top of what we had. Not a lot of melting going on as last week we were very cold at 6 degrees to maybe 16 for the high. Snowed a few inches today but we are cleared out at the house so all is well.Joe just bought this Blade for the side by side and can plow us out in less than half an hour and we have lots of driveway.OH and you can see some of the snow but this is before last storm. There is lots more now.We usually end up with three to four foot on the ground. Just getting started. Yes we did get the porch. Love it. It is only 8 foot wide and to any one I would suggest 10 foot wide for porch a better size. but 8 foot works. Also the porch faces the street so we enter directly into what is supposed to be the dinning room. The living room door goes out to what we call the court yard. We added 3 stretches. Two foot across master bedroom end and two foot across in living room kitchen end and 16 inches in the middle across the two bedrooms. OH wah your link will not load right now.Said try later. I really like the large master bath and you will enjoy your large hall bath. We had the option to put door between kitchen and laundry and almost wish I had done that. And we can later. A pretty French door would be wonderful. This would have made it possible to include our hall bath with laundry room and make it feel larger too. Still working on that in my brain. With just us I can leave that bath/laundry room door open and this keeps from steaming up the bath when I shower in there ,which I do some times when we both need to get ready in a hurry. Course then I have to keep a curtain on the laundry room door to outside for privacy. We really are comfortable in this house.I will keep checking in on your link.
