help with Pinterest homepage?

Is anybody knowledgeable enough to help me with this?

I can't get a homepage that looks sensible on Pinterest.

For one thing, the bars at the top don't look like the samples they show.

Mine is this:

The sample that Pinterest shows has an extra bar that lets you control what you see:

And I think that might be part of the problem.

My homepage has all my recent pins and then a bunch of stuff that I completely don't care about (travel pics, not a topic I have *ever* pinned, nor even told a survey I was interested in, etc; I don't know why Pinterest thinks I want to see those) from people I have never followed.

And I don't see any new pics from people I *have* followed. (Of course, they may not have posted anything new...)

(I wish I could also figure out how not to get duplicate images, bcs the homepage is full of that sort of stuff too.)

Any hints from anyone?

I've recently joined too and love it! Here's my page if you want to follow. http://pinterest.com/aschune/ I've been following people/boards like crazy because I think the more you follow, the more pictures you see... but I haven't quite figured it out yet either. There are several categories they have set up that you can filter by. If you go to the main homepage - at the very top under the Pinterest logo, there are some options. If you mouse over the word Everything, it will open a list of categories you can filter by. Gardening is just one of them. :-) But you probably have to be logged in to see that. From the Comcast Help: While using Mozilla Firefox, Select Tools from the top menu, and Options from the drop down list. Select Main. Enter in the address of the site you wish to set as your home page. I assume it would be http://www.comcast.net Click OK to return to Firefox. Restart Firefox to check.

Hello, I have a blog and starting several months ago the photos on my blog don't show up when I click on the *pin it* link in my favorites. When I click on the *PIN IT* link the page comes up gray and where there should be photos there are X's. This is also happening to the readers of my blog. I don't recall changing anything to make this happen. Also this doesn't happen on older blog post, like the first 2-3 blog posts I wrote, Is this a Pinterest issue, a blogger issue, or is it me? thanks in advance for any and all help.

The new pinterest looks like your top pic. On the left is the search and catagories are the three lines. On the right shows your repins at the push pin icon.

Sometimes people you follow pin the same thing, you'll have duplicates. I pin the same pic to different group boards so it shows twice to anyone that follows.

I think pinterest assigns people to follow you. You can block them by going to their page. At the top of the page on the right will be a little flag, click block. Or just scroll by, they drop off quickly. You might be able to clean up by going to your followers and eliminate the ones you didn't select.

I haven't been able to figure it out either.

But it's good to see you post again - how are the kids and are you still in the same apt? And have you finished decluttering everything? I remember some of your posts from the 'Organizing' forum.

Have you tried the Computer forum here - they've helped me numerous times and are quite knowledgeable.

I know exactly what you are talking about because I have the same complaint!

When I first went to look at Pintrest there were multitudes of items from all individuals who submitted them. After I joined and had some followers, all I ever see is what they have pinned! I asked once about the same problem and was told to click on the Pinterest name in the middle top of the page.

That really didn't work either. So now I open a separate browser window and, without signing in, can look at it same way I did in the beginning.

I view the mobile version of the site I much prefer the layout and easy viewing. I am not a member so no page of my own.

When you open pinterest it goes to your page. It shows what you've pinned and people you follow have pinned.

Top left of page next to search click on the three lines. Click on catagories for specifics or click on "everything".

THANKS KIM!!!!! Yes I'm shouting because this has frustrated me for so long that I don't hardly even go there very often! Now my blood pressure will go down enough to enjoy the site.

My kids are fine--but grownup. DD is in college and DS in high school.
And yes, we're in the same apartment, but now it's even more cluttered. I make progress, and then DD brings everything home from college (grrr!).

It's time to get them to get rid of kid stuff.

Kim - I'll try your idea and hope it helps.

I'm not sure it will get much better Talley Sue. My 3 are all in their own apartments and they still store things in the house. I found a box of trophies in the attic that belongs to the 35 year old and his brother put his law school books in our vacation home - and he graduated 4 years ago.
