Cheers, you could have included the info about why you were looking for an ID when you originally posted your picture. You said you suspected what it was and were just looking for confirmation. I'm not sure what kind of responses you expected but I said I was giving you the benefit of the doubt in genuinely wanting to know what it was. Several people sympathized with what you considered an unpleasant experience after they understood why this was posted. Had you been more forthcoming originally, or at least not a stranger, this conversation would have gone differently. Kristy, I have rooted this twice and it was totally by accident. I've had branches that I didn't stake lay into pots of other plants and they rooted right into them. Then I just cut off the mother plant when I felt like the new plants had enough roots. So try that if nothing else is working.... I would lay a rock or brick or something over a section about 6" from the tip into a separate pot. Mine does need dividing but I'm waiting until spring to do it.

Not an abelia and not weigela. As mor said, it's a daphne. You don't have to stick your nose in the middle of it to enjoy the fragrance. If you stand in the front yard, you can smell it blooming in the back yard. It is one of the plants most famous for fragrance.
