They make a spray on aloe vera jell and that's what I use. It really does help. I got mine at WalMart a couple of years ago so you may have to call them and see if they still carry it.

Haven't had a sunburn in years, but I used to keep a bottle of clear Aloe Vera gel in the fridge. Really feels good on a burn.

Years ago DS's wedding was planned in a couple months and I had my dress bought. It was a salmon pink and I wanted to get a start on a tan. Went fishing on a boat and wore a strapless tanktop and brought a Tshirt to put on after an hr or so. Dumb me, i forgot the Tshirt in the car and after abt 5 hrs in the boat, I was way past well done. Boy was I sick and sore for a few days, but the burn turned into a beautiful tan. Wish I could post pictures. I really looked exotic with my long dark hair, deep tan and this beautiful halter-top salmon pink long dress. I tell you, those glamour days are over!!! Dottie

Quite a few years ago, I started going to a tanning bed. I got a horrible burn on my neck. Gal running the place asked if I was on HRT. Said a lot of women were overly sensitive to the sun/tanning beds while on hormones. It never bothered me anywhere except my neck area.

I was such a dummy when I was at the Lake with friends. My hair was in a pony tail and my neck was getting burned. I complained about it and someone said "Duh, take your hair outta the pony tail, it will protect your neck."

Vinegar is the very best thing to use. I always keep it around, you may smell like a pickle but it does make the sunburn feel better.

I have been applying aloe like crazy and taking a couple of aspirin here and there. It is now one great big water blister. I would rather stick a fork in my eye than get in the shower. The water kills me; I take cool showers but even the littlest bit of spray hits my chest and I just want to cry.

I think because I am on bc and high blood pressure medication it may have caused me to be more sun sensitive.

YIKES! I hate sunburns they hurt horrilbe, that is why I am like a vampire I do not do sun~~if I have too I cover up completley and use at least a 70spf everywhere that may be in the sun.

Can you put a cool rag on it soaked in the vinegar?? Is it so bad maybe you should call the dr??? I used to always keep aloe in the refer to put on my kids if they burned. A sunburn just takes the fun outy of the day, so sorry:(

Wouldn't an ice pack help...to take the heat out???

The absolute best thing I've ever used is a bottle of alcohol with a squirt of baby oil in it! The alcohol cools it off..and the baby oil keeps the alcohol from drying the skin! I promise it WORKS!

I keep Noxema in the fridge for sunburn.

DB swears by vinegar, this link says apple cider vinegar among other things.

I never burned easily but the one time I did Noxema was the only thing that soothed. It also prevents the later peeling.

I also swear by Noxzema. I have been using it for over 40 years. It is the only thing that cools a sunburn, at least for me. And I have had some doozies! Now I keep covered up with a hat and wear a light weight long sleeve shirt when working outside for a long time.

I was going to suggest vinegar but thought I'd be laughed at. It is what my dad used on us kids back in the days when we got sunburns.

My dad always swore that the best way to take the sting out of a sunburn was to take a hot bath. Oh yeh it hurts like heck when you get into the tub but only for seconds.

It still stings like heck but now it's peeling which let me tell you is really attractive.

My poor DH...last night I got into bed covered in aloe, I am starting to peel and wouldn't you know it my face is breaking out so I have acne cream on and he made some smart remark about how sexy I was. Needless to say I was not amused. :0)

When I worked in the hospital a patient was admitted to our unit for severe sunburn.
The doc ordered an anti-inflammatory every six hours and to use Maalox liquid on the burns. It helped but who knows if it would now because I am sure Maalox has been reformulated.
Vinegar works well, too.

Wet, regular tea bags, placed on the burn, is very soothing. The tannin in the tea is what works.

Believe it or not, take an antihistamine.

A dentist I used to work for told me that, and it works great to take the pain out.

Oh I remember taking hot showers!

I have used sprays that are for burns or sunburns. They seem to have something in them that kills the pain.
