For those following our 'buying our retirment home saga', who saw my post a week or so back, worrying about an EPA issue regarding an oil tank.... here's the update.

The tank had been removed a few years back--by a reputable, approved company, but we were still a little concerned about buying something that could turn into a problem down the road (when we were ready to sell).

Our RE agent insisted on having soil tests done--and even offered to pick up the bill for them himself. Very generous of him--they really want to make this sale.

Well, we've been waiting and waiting--results were due a few days ago. Finally got the word this morning. The tests came back perfect. No previous leaks, no problem.

So now the whirlwind starts. We've got an appt. tonight to get the papers in for our mortgage, and settlement in about a month and a half (assuming everything comes off on schedule.) What a relief. Didn't want to buy a house with an EPA problem, but we didn't want to lose the perfect (for us) house, either.
