Do I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreBacksplash withTan Brown Granite
Comments (5)Hello - I am the one who asked the identical question 2 days ago!. I have light oak cabinets, light oak floor and tan brown granite countertops and am looking for backsplash ideas. So far, the picture that Petra Granite posted is a great idea and I LOVE the look, however, I am trying to find out from him/her what the name and manufacturer of the tumbled marble is so I can find out more about it. If you get any additional ideas please pass them on!...See MoreI am so frustrated. Any suggestions on a back splash for this granite
Comments (18)missy, you have to remove that 4" piece if you're going to tile. you have a small kitchen, busy granite and now you want to add tile to that back piece? way too much going on. it's very simple to remove score all of the joints, top/bottom, breaking the seal carefully pry away from the wall being careful not to put a hole in the drywall. carefully peel away. hopefully they didn't use a lot of adhesive. if you tear some paper, it's ok. as for the choices, I like the larger gray tile. forget those reddish brown choices. The yellow walls are horrible w/that granite, so if you can paint a warmer gray or cream color, go for it. I like any of these subway tiles. you can use longer ones like a 3x12, 2x8, 2x10,,, but stick with any of the colors in the granite. if you like the travertine option, you must get the Ivory travertine that isn't pink or has a lot of mottling to it. (see pic w/the cutting boards) that type would work. like these ,,,Chiaro travertine, tumbled (this is the one in the picture. it's actually a nice choice w/your granite and flooring. you would choose a grout that matches this tile exactly (because all those holes will get filled w/the grout) Or Baja Cream. This 2x6 Botticino marble would also be a nice choice. It's less textured than travertine. I also like the honed and filled, random bar, light ivory travertine. keep things on the countertop neutral like in the picture. here is santa cecelia granite...See Morebacksplash tile options? Comments (3)You will need to wait until the granite is installed and see it in your lighting. Also it will be horizontal not vertical. My guess will be a creamy white that matches the cream in the granite. Really you can go matte or shiny, but maybe matte would be better. Matte finishes aren’t as popular as polished but I’m sure you can google examples. I think coordinating the color of tile, cabinet and granite is the most important. Your granite choice is lovely. Once it is in, you might be able to choose one of the other colors in the granite to match a tile. You just don’t want them to clash. When you step back and view your granite, you will get an overall impression of color, and that is what you can go by....See Morepetra_granite
