Kitchen Design, Colors, Cabinet Decisions

Okay, it seems like everyone here enjoys a good design thread. We are in the process of taking a 900sqft office space and turning it into a 1-bedroom apartment; I'm in a rare position to design and build (with some reasonable budget limitations) my dream kitchen. This is my first project of this kind, however, so I would love it if the experts on this forum would provide feedback with anything I might be missing.

Here is the plan thus far:

The range has to go in the island because of the window placement, and the island is an island and not a peninsula because of traffic flow to the adjoining living room.

The cabinets will be custom (friend of a friend) frameless, with concrete countertops, apron front sink (single basin, not like the blueprint), slide-in range. Rusted corrugated steel backsplash. Utility grade fir floors from sustainablelumberco.com here in Montana (will be buying unfinished and most likely just filling, sanding, and PU with no stain).

Dear Boyfriend likes the dark cabinet version. I prefer the light - but I think doing an opposites scheme on the cabinet wall versus island might be a nice compromise (dark cabinets on the wall, light cabinets on the island, with reversed colored countertops).

Dining is a 48" square table with a bench on two sides and chairs on the others. The island has a raised bar with stools behind it, probably clad in more rusty metal.

Debating about wall colors, too...one big rust-colored accent wall, perhaps?
