We have the Electrolux fridge you are considering and love it. We also have a mixed package of appliances, but even more mixed than yours. Bosch dual fuel stove/oven, Bosch MW, KA dishwasher and the Elecrtolux fridge. I started out worrying about everything matching, then finally just went with the individual pieces that I really liked. We went thru a lot of the same mental gymnastics that you seam to be going thru.

I studied the reviews of the appliances I was considering until I thought I would go crazy and drive my DH crazy.

Like you said it was a mixed bag, though some appliances had the same complaint consistently even if they also received glowing reviews.

I purchased the GE cafe GLASStop range and the GE cafe over the range microwave. So I can't comment on the gas part of it. But I have two friends who have the dual fuel and love it. Neither one of them have had any problems with their ranges. One has the Microhood and she has not had any problems with it either.

Overall I have been pleased,....however..... my microwave's control panel went completely haywire within 2 months of not much use. This was a complaint I had read about online. GE sent someone out to fix it and he did not have the part and then they called me and said it was on backorder so they were going to come out and replace my whole microwave.

I was pleased I didn't have to fight with them. Their customer service was excellent and I haven't had a problem with it since, and we use it everyday. Some posters felt it shorted out due to the steam from boiling something on the stove. I boil something every day and like I said have had no problem with the second micrwowave so far. I've had it now for 4 months.

When my electrician was installing the range for me his hip hit the left knob and snapped it right off. The metal pin that connects the knob to the range broke. GE sent someone right out to fix it (I had not even had a chance to use the range yet) and when he turned it on he heard a problem with the fan so he ordered that part and came back and fixed it. I have had no problems with it since and it works well for me.

So over all even with those problems I am happy with the range, the way it looks in my kitchen, and would buy it again. GE really was a pleasure to deal with. Their customer service was above average.

I am not a grand cook and it meets my needs perfectly. I haven't used the convection feature yet but everything has baked well.

Oh, another complaint I read was that the microwave handle gets so hot you can't touch it but that has not been an issue for me.

Good luck with your decisions. I still haven't picked a refrigerator yet.

I know it's mindboggling trying to decide which appliances to get.

I have an Electrolux dishwasher (EWD6505GS). I bought it in spring and didn't have a chance to use it until summer. I used to go to their website and watch the video demonstration of the dishwasher and dreamed of the day I finally get to use it in my kitchen.

The day came and I was excited. But, I don't really like it. It is very quiet and comes with neat features. But I can't count it to wash the dishes very clean every time. Before I put away the dishes, I feel like I need to check everything, especially on the top cup shelf. I have had service guy come out to check on it. He basically said not to expect sparkling dishes without pre-rinsing them first. Also, the way the prongs are set up, there are a lot of wasted spaces. I think about returning it almost every day. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends for sure. I hope this helps.

One and Only

I have the Electrolux CD side by side refrigrator from 2006. I love the look of the outside. The finish repels fingerprints and is the best feature. Plus the cool blue lights in the water/ice dispenser look great. We are a family of 2 so it's the right amount of space for us. Even so I need our old refrigerator outside for extra storage.
The mixed reliability reports you have seen are true. I paid for the Sears warranty on it and I suggest you do this too. We have to keep milk in the very back so it's cold enough. The inside temperature is 1 or 2 degrees higher than recommended for food storage (don't remember the number) and we have 3 service calls trying to fix it. But I agonized when deciding at the time and the LG I wanted was on backorder. I remember there were issues with all the brands, and I refused to get a SubZero and spend more than 100% more.

I have had the GE Cafe dual fuel range and counter debth French door fridge for 6 months. Love both. I was thinking today how much I like them. We were going to get the Electrolux fridge, but after talking to 6 different sales people the GE won out. Good luck! (ps- I did keep my old french door fridge for overflow)

I strongly caution you not to pick all of your appliances from manufacturer. Consider each kind of appliance separately and determine your needs/desires for each. DW, for example, do you want it to be extra quiet, clean baked-on goo, or have a certain appearance? Not every manufacturer does every kind of appliance well. I have been looking at and researching appliances all year and am choosing them based their individual specifics.

I am considering E'lux double wall ovens. My trusted appliance salesperson (yes trusted as DH has known her outside of appliances for many years) told me about the problems with E'lux appliances in general, but specifically the workings of the fridges and DWs. She said they get more service calls on E'lux than any other brand. E'lux doesn't offer any particular feature of fridge or DW I want/need so I ruled those out a long time ago. I'm getting a Kitchenaid counterdepth french door fridge.

You're not too caught up on the reliability issue. It is important, but no appliance brand is without its issues. Expecially nowadays.

Function is so much more important over looks after you have to live with something! [or someone!] I probably would think I'd been fooled by "just another pretty face!" LOL Wouldn't be the first time.

I considered both the GE Cafe and Electroculux 30" double oven gas models.
I thought the GE cafe had a nicer look-everything was stainless, even teh door. All other ovens, even electrolux, has black on the door.
I ended up going with the electrolux because the price was the same, based on reviews and features (such as stay in place door, smooth sliding oven racks) I prefered electrolux, and the quality of the oven knobs on the GE cafe felt like cheap plastic.
Note I made the mistake of buying the electrolux OTR microwave simpy because I thought it would match my range. Not only did it not match, but it was a complete lemon and I had an awful time with electrolux customer service. I had to file a BBB comlaint and contact the head of US appliance operations to get a refund.
I do not have any matching appliances now and I don't think it matters. Many of the appliances have similar handles so they look like they match. We have a KA DW (old, black, hoping to put a cabinet panel on it), Samsung french door bottom freezer 36", electrolux gas double oven, and GE OTR microwave.

My wife and I was in the same boat for over 2 months. We finally decided to buy the GE Cafe dual fuel range, OTR microwave, a Kenmore Elite dishwasher and Samsung french door fridge. At first, we wanted all matching applianes but we got frustrated because not all manufacturers made what we wanted. For instance GE Cafe fridge was too small and dishwasher did not have good enough reviews.

At any rate, once all the choices were made, we started looking for sale price and finally bought everything from Sears on Black Friday. I made sure to buy it online and use my discover card to get 10% cash back from discover. So it was a great buy for me.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you getting your GE Cafe for? I paid around $2100 for the range and $450 for the microwave.

How many ways can I say awesome? Bakes better than any oven we've ever owned, holds temperature perfectly, and the doors are cool to the touch regardless of inside temp.

Might seem silly to have this with the full size double convection oven, but this is great because in convection mode it warms up quickly - less than 5 minutes to 400 degrees. Perfect for frozen pizza or warming anything - you can do it fast without heating up the whole kitchen. Great unit, and we use it more than we expected.

Cooktop EW30GC55GS (30", four burners, gas)
The big burner will singe your hair - or boil water very quickly. Burners are very finely adjustable, and the "one level" grid is great. Biggest complaint is that the stainless steel is the softest ever - you can scratch it with a fingernail.

Warming drawer E30WD75ESS2
We bought this for one reason only - it was 90% off (about $100 instead of $900) at the Sears Outlet, and it matched our oven. Works fine, but we really don't use it much.

Can't speak for GE, but we really like our Kitchenaid dishwasher, and are so-so on our Kitchenaid counter-depth 'fridge. Love the Kitchenaid standalone icemaker.
