Does anyone regret their white cabinets?
Comments (47)Speaking as a landlord and home owner. I find for the city pad, the white gloss look makes a very modern and it will tend to popular for young people which rent the apartment. I would not favour anything apart from cream for your own home. I have a house in a large village and it is not a city pad now large enough to have granite and ivory classic look. The cream is a natural colour and like magnolia which the nation loves for a natural look around the home, the kitchen in cream will ensure your home remains very attractive for your diner party guests, visitors and ultimately a sale. Of a recent Facebook request, around 10 people responded. 8 opted for cream, 1 ivory and one brilliant white and the age range was wide and understood our brief. My issue now is to convince my wife whom is anti-clutter and OCD clean focussed and is really upset if I do not buy a white one... could you spend £6,500 on a kitchen you do not like the colour?...See MoreAnyone Chose Shiloh Softwhite Cabinets and regret it?
Comments (4)Aries61, I just came online and saw the thread and fell in love! Now I wish I did not buy the tiles first as they have a lot of beige in them and a creamy white despite the gray veining that is not doing well with the sample door I have here. I must rearrange my schedule and find a show room with the Polar White to bring my tiles to and the sample door to. I remember the Polar White looking as beautiful as Lisa's kitchen. Thanks for sharing in case I did not see it....See MoreAnyone regret getting a mostly white laminate countertop?
Comments (12)My laminate counters were put in when I re-did the kitchen in 1991. They aren't white, but they look just as good as the day they were installed. Back then, what you see under the quartzite sample in the photo below was a perfect match to Deer Isle granite. I wanted to do a face-lift for the kitchen now and wanted to get the Formica fx180 laminate in 'Calacatta Marble' as it's SO realistic looking. So, I had a large sample of that, which is mostly white, see link below, and I went at that with a big sharp knife. I am amazed that I could see a few tiny scratches for a while, and they 'healed up' overnight. I looked at it again the next morning, and they couldn't be seen or felt. I DID elect to go with Fantasy Brown quartzite, because that Formica with the ogee edge I wanted cost as much as some granites, etc. I bet that the quartzite won't be as worry-free as that laminate has been for 24 years. Here is a link that might be useful: Formica 180fx calacatta marble...See MoreWhite Cabinet Regret
Comments (20)Mine are 4-year-old factory-finished sprayed white from KraftMaid in Dove White with shaker doors. I have 3 active young kids and a dog. The only cab that has shown wear and tear ever so slightly is the trash drawer which is probably opened 50 times a day. NO regrets. I still love them and they still look new. I'm careful about cleaning them with just a damp dishcloth, no harsh cleaners and NO magic eraser which I think breaks down the finish because it's essentially fine grit sandpaper. I previously had painted white and those did not hold up well. They were pine and painted white but pine wood which tends to be soft. I think the factory finish spray is much smoother, durable finish then painting with a brush....See Moremarthastoo
