Pros and Cons - wall mounted toilets, fixtures
Comments (2)Is this new construction or a remodel? If it's a remodel, there will be significant demolition and plumbing (and cost) involved to reconfigure the drain for the toilet. There will also be a lesser degree of demolition required for the lavatory faucets....See MoreFrench Door Fridge Pro & Con
Comments (42)I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. We thought we wanted a FD, but have been re-thinking it a bit now. In my 61 years, all I have ever had was a top freezer, other than a few wretched months with a side-by-side in a rental. We are building a new house, and are using a super cheap 14 cu/ft as a place-holder. One thing in this thread caught my attention- If you load the fridge from a counter on either side, there will always be a half door in the way. Although I could load ours from the peninsula, it is a bit of a distance. it will be much easier to load/unload to the counter to the left of the fridge. We have 66" from the front of the fridge to the peninsula, so even with a single door wide open, we'll have 30-32 inches clearance- plenty to walk past. I was able to recess the fridge 5" into the wall- well worth the extra effort. I think we're going to go with a smallish (20-22 cu/ft) single door bottom freezer. We'll have to see if my VCW (vertically challenged wife) is comfortable reaching the back of the top shelf, though....See MoreTalking trash -- Anyone have a door-mounted swing-out can?
Comments (14)Thanks for the thoughts and comments so far. From the pictures, if you are interested in the items shown, it looks like you have enough room for a pullout. Are you sure you don't? What I am trying to do is to put the trash on one side, and recycling on the other. Here is a picture of my setup (during construction): I chose a sink with a right rear drain to provide enough room for a trash can in front. This works, i.e., I currently have a standalone trash can sitting between the GD and the door. I also have enough room for either the RAS or the Haefele swing-out units. I just don't know how well they work or if they work with plastic bags. A slightly different question: Let's say I give up on this idea and use the left part of my base for trash, and put in a pull-out as Numbersjunkie suggested. Are there pull-outs with integrated lids?...See MoreMullican Mount Castle in Autumn Bronze. Pros/Cons - Advice please!
Comments (10)We too are considering the Mount Castle line but in Seashell finish. The lack of reviews make me a little skeptical. Also be sure to check out the average board length.... in the photos on the mullican site it looks like there are a lot of short boards. I asked the supplier what the distribution of board lengths was but am waiting on a response.... his initial reaction wasn’t very promising....See Morebreezygirl
