Who has leaded glass transom windows over kitchen sink windows?

I know I saw this somewhere but now I can't find it. I've gone through the FKB and still couldn't find it, but I could have missed it. Please direct me if you know whose kitchen I saw. Thanks.

It was arlosmom. That thread has dropped off and I can't seem to locate it using google or forum search. Also checked FKB - arlosmom hasn't posted there yet.

Wow, thank you for all the responses! cyn--The house we are looking at is in a 55+ community. Not sure if we can plant trees, but it's certainly a question I can ask. mtn--I love my 4-poster bed, so I'm not ready to chop the posts off. It's a shaker pencil point, so maybe it won't look too badly. geokid--I love barn doors and that would be an awesome look! Your solution is great. Thanks for the pics! mayflowers--I did find one photo on Houzz with shutters on what appeared to be a similar size window. I guess if I'm willing to dish out the cash, I can always have it made. nosoccermom--Thanks for the picture. Beautiful room! LuAnn--Yes, I know the sun comes up in the east, but in my part of the country the entire sky gets light too. ;) sasafras--I'm leaning toward leaving it uncovered, at least to start. momcat--I had mentioned stained glass to DH. Since I don't think I would have room to put any art (or at least what I current have) over the bed, that could solve two issues. chispa--I have duettes in my current home and love them. Motorized would certainly be the way to go. You certainly are light sensitive! xc60--Having the window in that location pretty much dictates where I would put the bed, though I've considered locating it in front of the double window due to other furniture placement. I think having a window hanging in the air might look strange, however. What do you think? patricia--another vote for leaving it open. Thanks! marti--was it difficult to reach the levers to close? I'm vertically challenged at 5'2". Guess that would be DHs job! yayagal--I'm glad to say we are not so bothered by light as you and others, now if we could get the birds to stop chirping in the summer at 4 a.m.

To post a photo: go to http://tinypic.com (it's free and no sign up is required) select "browse" and go find your jpg, png, gif, or tif photo file and select it (it will be automatically downsized to 250K) select the "upload image" button copy the contents of the "HTML" window and paste it into the text part of your messabe. Now preview you message. If you can see the photo, submit the message If you are unsure of yourself try all of this first at the test forum which is linked at the bottom of the main forum page. Yes, I have one over my sink. The neighbor's house is very nearby and the previous owners of my house had a fabric valence in the kitchen window that gave some privacy. But there is only one window in the kitchen, so I got a stained glass window to hang there. I got obscured glass and just a little color. Now the neighbors can't see in (but I have never seen their blinds open anyway) and I get all the light I can get. My kitchen remodel this summer added a skylight, but I still like the stained glass over the sink. I may get new pictures of the redone kitchen up in a week or two. While not "gazing dreamily" out our kitchen window, I do look out quite a bit while at the sink. Mostly to come up with future landscape ideas or to watch my dog stalk squirrels and sometimes catch them. When thinking about how I use my kitchen sink, I came to the conclusion that I would hate it in my island. I would have dirty dishes on my island all the time which would drive me crazy. I clean up, and 5 minutes later a dirty dish magically appears next to the sink. Plus, I prefer an uninterrupted island workspace. Organize your kitchen however it works best for you! There is no law that says a sink has to be below the window.

I keep planning to post to FKB, but I'm still tinkering with decor details plus waiting for DH to build shelves in my pantry, so I haven't been able to mentally commit to being "finished". Maybe that should be my new year's resolution!!

I have antique windows as transoms...2 are leaded glass and one is stained glass...here are pics...they are not over the sink though...

ncamy, I've been trying to think of who has leaded grass transoms, but haven't come up with anything for you. I thought of trailrunner (hi Caroline!), but I knew that hers aren't over sinks. Do you remember anything else about the kitchen you are looking for?

warmfridge, the sink came with our 100 year old house, although I think it is from the 20s or 30s. We re-used it when we did our kitchen addition. She's got character, yes?

Well what I do remember was that the glass was all white. I believe that there were three separate windows and three transoms but they were connected by trim work. When I saw it I said to my husband, "Hey that would be a good way to bring in more light to our kitchen!" The windows themselves were fairly tall, too. They maybe went all the way down to the counter.

elizpiz has glass transoms over her tall windows, although her transoms aren't leaded glass. Does this help at all?

hey dannie: glad to help. It is an Olympic paint color from Lowes. Thyme. I had it made up in BM Regal Matte. We love it. Hope this helps. c
