Hi Talley_Sue, thanks! Yes, I did covered the plexiglass high enough. What you see on the DW door is the scratches made from the old wheelchair. The new one does not have this large bolt that sticks out and made the upper scratches. The front panel is replaceable on this DW. LOL, I should know 'cause I kept knocking that thing out of its place with the old wheelchair. I've been delaying on the order because I hadn't had time to order it. Should I go with SS if they have it? Will the DW look weird? There are still tidbits that I'm going to do them myself because originally, the price weren't included and the contractor did as much extras as he could out of his kindness. I didn't feel comfortable taking advantage of him. I still need to paint over the outlet & switch covers to match with the backsplash and go over with glaze paint at the toe kick areas to match with the cabinets. That's easy and I can manage to have these done. The cabinets are not the exact gold that I wanted to achieve. My contractor ran out of patience when he found out what I wanted done after he quoted me just for a regular paint job. He did the texturizing still with no extra charge and I didn't wanted to frustrate him any longer for he still had other works to get them done. I have purchased a medium-dark brownish gold paint to go back and texturize the cabinets to achieve the gold color that I wanted. However, I'm still undecided on it because this color looks fine too. I'm going to try it on a paper plate and see which I like better before doing it to all the cabinets. I'd need to ask a friend to do the upper cabinets of course. But YES! I love rolling into this kitchen every morning to make me a cup of coffee. It feels warm and lovin' =o)

Blum Aventos HF again: Yes, your cabinets are a little higher on the wall -- and so are mine!! The placement of the Blum Aventos HF spring mechanism is what I was trying to draw your attention to. Inside each cabinet, these Aventos HF hinges are not screwed at the "correct" height as per Blum instructions. I know because I have cabinets with these, and I called Blum several times to ask about changing the height in order to get a different angle when the fronts were opened. No go, according to the Blum people I spoke to. But, I wasn't satisfied that they had ever tested it out any other way, or asked about it anywhere. so it is good to see that yours work well. To stop the cabinet fronts from going too high and hitting the ceiling, Blum sells "angle stops". I got them. They are great. I'll bet your hardware installer doesn't read instructions, take courses, watch videos or ask questions. The two points I mentioned above are two clues, but it doesn't mean I'm certain. Also one more: in your photos I saw some of the unweighted spring arms left in a dangerous position, specifically forbidden in the piece of paper that Blum includes in every box of Aventos parts. No harm done in pointing this out now, I hope. Here is a sentence from one of my emails to the Blum people I dealt with: "Accessories Box #10 has Opening Angle stop 104 degrees part no. 20F7051. Do these come in pairs?" Buy them. It is worth it to have the spring automatically come to a stop right under the ceiling. If you re-install the Aventos lower down on the cabinet side, the spring arms become shorter and this makes the geometry of the two panels totally different when opened. By the way, do you know if you got the spring that is lightest, mid-range, or heaviest? There is a lot of overlap, so it's not critical. Hth!! ---- I mentioned I have the same countertop. Perhaps you might want to look at my backsplash. For now, look on the web for "Random White Hirsch Murano glass tiles". .

Beautiful Kitchen it is exactly what I would like to do. Did you paint your cabinets? I have custom red oak cabinets from the 1980's. I know they are made very well all solid oak with the shelving that pulls out like drawers. I would like to have my cabinets professionally refinished in a painted white finish. Last week we brought one of the doors as a sample to a cabinetmaker/refinisher & he said you can not paint oak. He also said that the quality of the cabinets are so good that they could not be replicated now. He said he could either stain them another color or whitewash them. I am hoping he is wrong & I can find someone to do a great job refinishing them in a white paint finish. Laura
