I think it will be lovely. Is there any where in the plans to add a bit lightness? I'm thinking an island top in light marble or lighter backsplash. Love the colour you've chosen for cabinets.

Have you considered brass for some of the hardware? I think it would look stunning with your cab colour. If your kitchen looks anything like the inspiration pic, you can pull off doing a mix of metal finishes. I'm thinking stainless or nickel for sink fixtures and brass for cabinet hardware, lights.

Beautiful color on the cabs and different which I really like. I too think the honed jet mist will look good.

You need to be careful with your floor selection as the paint has pink undertones that could clash with a cooler greener type of dark floor. The granite already has blue undertones, and one cool reading element is usually enough for the contrast. A flooring with reddish undertones will harmonize better and keep the paint looking "warm" and not "pink".

Sorry, I am not liking these two together. If you do this combo, I think you should think ahead to the backsplash. What color will transiition nicely between them?

Sorry to be a voice of dissent, but I just don't know that the cabinets and granite work together as well as they do individually. I am so in love with that cabinet color that I think a different granite selection could really show it off better. It reads more on the beige side of greige in that pic that LWO posted while the granite reads more on the gray side. I have been hanging out at granite yards quite a bit lately and have seen some absolutely gorgeous black granites with warmer undertones, like a gold sparkle that really catches the eye. Of course I have been looking at lighter toned granites so while I stop and ooh and aah, I haven't paid any attention to the names. Have you been to a granite yard with a door sample yet? I bet that will be a huge help.

Hi, thanks for the input so far. In terms of adding 'lightness' and backsplash, I am always a sucker for a nice white subway tile, so that is one option I had in mind (and is shown in that sample pic).

DaisyChain, I did consider brass hardware, an antique brass finish similar to this: Brass hardware I am definitely OK mixing hardware between faucets and cabinet pulls/knobs.

LiveWire, thanks for the color advice - I have a hard time seeing undertones, but I agree that the paint chip does look a little pink. On the cabinets, though, it definitely reads a little less pink, which is good :)

And yes - thinking ahead to backsplash, floor, wall color, etc. is what has me second-guessing myself! Part of me thinks it should all be figured out ahead of time, but the other part of me thinks that if I go a bit piecemeal but with things I love, I can make it work.

I love your inspiration picture. I am planning to use honed black beauty granite in my kitchen. I think it would look great with your paint choice - it is dark like the jet mist but it has some warmth in it as opposed to jet mist being on the cool side.

Thanks for the color suggestions, BoxerPups - this makes me feel good about my color choice, it actually reads more like the ones you posted than the first swatch, which I agree, looks too pink. I just put the second coat of paint on the cabinets, so it's no turning back now!

Kellie - I have visited a granite yard with my door sample, and I did look at some other choices. For example, the Bianco Romano was really my other 'favorite' choice, and the tone really matches well with the paint. Just not sure I am up for the monochrome look in the kitchen....

Ahhh, good, then I am sure it will look lovely. It is so hard to judge colors on a computer monitor. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I think you will have tons of options for a backsplash too with that combo.

Please post a pic of your cabinets when you get a chance. I have been trying to select a paint color for months.I was going more for a gray but have now settled on a more putty color and the one you selected is a consideration. I love the sample pic cabinets...what I am looking for. What paint are you using and are you happy with it? Considering BM oil impervo or the Advanced. What color have you gone with for your walls. Too many decisions and I am way too indecisive :)

Hi ccissell - I will post a pic of the cabinets, but it will be a little while (still a work in progress!). The color looks different depending on where in the room, time of day, etc. Sometimes it looks gray, sometimes it's putty, sometimes it's tan. I kind of like that you can't really tell what it is :)

We used the BM Advance paint, and were REALLY happy with it. Tried one of the cabinet transformations kits first, and that paint was really hard to work with. The advance was great to work with, minimal brush marks and the finish looks really good. We did a ton of prep, which helped, and two coats of the BM Advance primer. I would recommend it, for sure. We have not picked a wall color yet...may do a lighter shade on the same card, or an off white since the room does not get much natural light.

I'd look at some of the newer Cambria colors. They're quite nice and some would work better with that color.

Put a white sheet of paper next to the paint so you can see what the undertones are. Everything has an undertone.

Still have not made a final decision about the granite yet, but you all definitely gave me some food for thought!

Your cabinets look wonderful! From your pictures, it does look like the cabinet color is closer to Revere Pewter or one of the others boxerpups posted, so Jet Mist could work. I can't wait to see the finished kitchen, whatever you choose!
