Amaryllis Bulb Company shipment due next MOnday!
Comments (44)Cheers to Soultan for coordinating our Aussie order! Looking forward to these bulbs may help me to recover from the frustration and disappointment of having Terri "The Lily Lady" abruptly cancel a large order without any notice other than this automated email message: Thank you for shopping with The Lily Lady. This automated e-mail serves as confirmation that your order has been refunded. Please do not reply to this e-mail. The message was sent right before Terri left for her Christmas holiday and became unreachable via email or telephone until January 3rd. Valentine's day is going to be a lot less colorful. Insert long sigh here!!! I send you all my warmest holiday greetings along with the hope that your bulbs are healthy and that they bloom profusely in the coming weeks....See MorePanic attack - Wolf Induction not working right
Comments (47)asmom- i don't know why my DH omelette didn't work - but when we did an omelette with the 2 Wolf peeps - the omelette came out fine. They also shared the power % numbers which should be standard in the operating manual. The Wolf has 4 magnets, so the "splotches" are the 4 zones. Once the pan is warmed up, it settles down and seems to work just fine. Lorenza - You can get a very hot pan on the Wolf! I don't know how it would compare to gas - but it is more efficient so the heat goes to the pan. See my post on cooking about my scallops - they were absolutely wonderful. We don't eat much meat, so I am not the best to answer on the sear end of things - but I made an scrumptious pork roast - seared it and then tossed into the oven - I had beautiful "brown" sauerkraut - which irked my DB as he can never get his kraut to turn brown like DMs. Sauces are quite easy. I also made a beef stew - and used the cooktop like a crock pot - I put a probe into the pan to monitor and it stayed very stable and was delicious! My signature dish - "upside down salmon" comes out perfectly - I slice sweet potatoes and put a bit of oil in the pan, season the potatoes and then put the salmon skin side up in the pan - (after marinating) heat on medium for 5 minutes and then pop into the oven for 10-20 minutes depending on the size - then scoop out the potatoes and fish and flip it over so the caramelized potatoes are over top of the fish. I roast my peppers in the oven - but don't char them usually, so not a problem from my end. I am going to buy a grill pan but have not done so yet. I have a single griddle - I think it is All Clad - it is a square one and works fine Debating on the grill pan to purchase... I have heard that Wokking is hard - but haven't really tried it - but I am betting I could make it work with my giant Saute pan. And I haven't made my Paella yet... How did the Thermador compare to the Wolf?...See MoreCambria Torquay pics please! Considering canceling my Silestone
Comments (47)Doing a small powder room with 2x6 pearl marble subway pattern on walls up to 40" topped by a marble mini brick border and marble chair rail. I'd prefer Not to use a marble floor because its at the beach . I have found this carrera look porcelain that works though its a tad whiter , I would use grey grout . Should I get the real marble floor or look for a different porcelain , I really don't mind the upkeep on the walls but would rather not worry about countertop and floor as its a heavily used bath . as for countertop , on the white 30" vanity , shall I use torquay or a plain white quartz . ? thanks for input . For the record my friend rented a beach house wilth all carrera countertops and was given a 2 page list of all things to avoid , she ended up covering the entire countertop w placemats for the month rather than worry about what would stain or etch them ....See MoreInsurance on my Project Building is being canceled!
Comments (30)I think I originated the confusion here about this being multi family. You described the building on a post somewhere as being a 3 floor commercial structure, and for some reason, that sounded as though it were going to be a 3 residence apartment when you were done. I apologize for the incorrect assumption. You might try State Farm or Farmers Insurance to get additional quotes from as they've been friendly to "non standard" residences of acquaintances of mine, although most have had their issues with either codes enforcement or their insurance companies. My friend who owns an 1820 building in downtown Memphis had the codes people write him up for several things when they did an "urban blight" sweep a few years ago. He had to immediately put in a sprinkler system and repoint the entire exterior to be in compliance. He also had to spend about 14K in replumbing the structure because of old cast iron piping and to work to be split into 4 apartments. That's the "master plan" anyway. Right now he only occupies 1/4 of the building. It has 12' tall windows that you can get a glimpse of the river though, and it's worth some sweat and tears! I did a kitchen in a residence converted from a 1910 cotton gin that the homeowners had a LOT of issues with red tape on the conversion. They used Farmers, but they also had to take out a bond of X amount to serve as the General Contractor on the project. Their mortgage holder required that as they didn't want to end up holding the bag on a half finished project. And that was during the boom construction years. Last year, my sister couldn't even get a loan to buy a small church to convert to a residence. No bank would talk to her about the project unless she had architectural plans and enough funding in place to hire a GC to do the project. If she had all of that, she wouldn't have needed a bank loan! I hope you find new insurance ASAP and I'd love to see more pics of your building. It sounds unique!...See Morecountrygal_905
