Backsplash for soapstone/ off white cabs / yellow walls

Hi all,

We're getting close to completion. Floor is in -- sanding/finishing this week. After that it is cabinets, counter, appliances and . . . backsplash.

The backsplash is the only thing we did not painstakingly choose ahead of time. We wanted to see how the colors and textures went together.

So now we are in the idea phase.

White with caramel glaze cabinets (look cream colored from a distance except for the edge details)

Alberene Old Dominion soapstone (white/yellow veins and streaks, pale green nail head spots)

Red Oak floors with Waterlox finish.

Yellow wall color (not super bright, but definitely more intense than butter cream).

SS appliances

Black/bronze pulls and light fixtures.

Subway tile is always in the running, but we want to consider everything.

Wife wants to look at a thin stacked stone look.

I think a marble tile would look neat as the inverse of the soapstone (white with black veins) -- I do worry about stains and oils, though on marble.

Any other advice or links to pics? I've been going through the archives. People here have some awesome kitchens!

Thanks in advance,

Anthony
