My kitchen is now 5 days old (haven't had time to take pics yet..too much time here instead!). I chose to have the garbage under my sink, instead of using up precious cabinet space. I have made 3 trips to Lowe's Rev-a-Shelf aisle because of a few things I did not consider before: 1) new 10" deep sink limits the height of the trash can I can use 2) hot water pipe limits the depth of the trash can I can use 3)left side of cabinet is totally unusable for trash due to 1 & 2 plus dishwasher drain hose from Bosch DW literally cuts the cabinet size in half (sigh!). My GC says he can call the plumber back "in a few weeks" to change all the plumbing around "for his hourly fees", but at this point I don't have the $$$ or the patience any more. I ended up buying the smallest Rev-a-shelf trash to fit the 16"deep space on the right. So, in summary, KUDOS to you for anticipating this issue before your plumbing is in. There are alot of after-market kits available, some much nicer than the small, cheap one I ended up with. Good Luck! Diane

Koolforkatz -- I know that florescent lights can be hardwired without a transformer, but they can't be dimmed. Do the zenon lights require a transformer because they are low voltage? Did you install them yourself, or did you have an electrician do them for you? Remodelmama, I am beginning this same decision-making process for our kitchen. I have done some searching online, and I'm intrigued by LED lights. They're more expensive up front, but *much* more energy efficient. That's the pitch, anyway. If anyone is interested, contrary to my own plan I wound up installing the UC panels under the front of the cabinets instead of the back. I did this everywhere except the PT holder. There, I mounted one just behind it, not all the way to the rear. The choice for me was simple: I could see the panels in the back and not in the front. The PT holder hides the panel to an acceptable degree, and there is no noticeable inconsistency between the PT panel and the next one in front thanks to excellent diffusion. The glare/reflection I worried about is not a factor and I've got a dual wireless dimmer mounted to the wall. Very happy with the results! Thanks again to everyone for your help. Btw, I used "Independence" dimmers and "Designer" panels both by InspiredLED. Peter did a good job, quickly providing plans and suggestions and also fixing a hiccup when a piece arrived defective.

Thank you, @wdccruise. That is quite the product! More color temps than I thought were possible, plus able to link without being physically linked. AND multiple dimming levels, not just high/low. You are right about the location of the hardwire This is the one cabinet where the wire would be visible if I moved the light forward. I disliked the fluorescent fixture, but its location did not vex me terribly. Thank you again. The one thing I wish the recommended fixture had was availability in something other than white. I thought maybe brushed nickel would be nice for this one location.
